This is all fanboy predicting. It won't top 300 million.

Thanks for your intelligent comment. We are all really taking it into consideration...

MG is ranked #2 in Box Office predictions for a reason ....

That said I still disagree

He also lets his personal feelings affect his thinking, which is why his Sin City prediction for opening weekend was so far off. He was even lower on it when he had to actually predict before a consensus had formed and more info was available.

Opening: $9.3
Total: $24.9

That was his "gut" feeling on Sin City in early March.

If I recall, he's also predicting 25/65 million for Fantastic Four. I'll bet he raises that too, once he has help.

He's been very critical of Revenge of the Sith, and he's right now predicting...

3-Day Opening: $81.0
4-Day Opening: $107.0

Total: $227.5

It's so much easier to make predictions that are accurate when you have consensus and all the information that can be gathered up until a few days before the movie's release. For that reason, Derby averages have never carried much weight with me. If I was a Derby player, I'd get a good sense of who the best players were, and always call my numbers close to their numbers, and I'd have me a great average. \:D/

Not to downplay or insult MG, as I'm just having fun ribbing him here, but I believe I just made a strong case for his lack of foresight, so calling somebody elses predictions "fanboy predictions" might have carried more weight if it weren't for the fact that he has shown time and again that his personal biases cause him to make some lousy predictions, especially if he's making those predictions solely using his own foresight.

I don't hate Star Wars. Episode III is my most wanted to see movie right now. I'm just trying to be realistic here.

The main factors of my prediction:
-Common decrease of popularity in Star Wars (it's becoming a fans-only thing)
-Dark factor which really hurt Harry Potter 3

Oh and also, I don't base my predictions on other people's. I make most of my final predictions on Monday or Tuesday.

Contrary to popular belief, HP3 was not hurt by the dark factor. Harry Potter fans should just accept now that the series has reached its peak.

Harry Potter was not hurt. It was overpredicted because people though it was the best book.

just like they're doing with the 4th. The best book thing cannot work for it anymore. Everyone who has read the 4th book has also watched the 3 movies.

You can use the same logic here. Everyone thinks this will be the best movie ever (and I hope it will), but that doesn't mean it will gross a lot.

MG does make alot of good points about SW. It maybe fresh at RT but its barely fresh, it was only given a fresh rating because well its SW's and the barely 7.0 ratings from IMDB doesnt compare with how high the sequels were received. Its basically all a step down and may go down again in BO numbers and ratings. Being the last trilogy of a movie never meant anything or else we would see BTTF and Matrix Revolutions make alot more numbers than their second sequel. I can see it stopping short of making 300 million
