So I say around a $50 million opening day.
$153 million opening weekend.
$126 million second weekend.
$830 million domestic.
$1,060 million overeas.
$1,890 million total.
Yes, I am being serious.

Ahhh, so that's where my Stash disappeared to, over at BOM where this prediction originated from.. However, I'll definitely buy the 153 Million before it's 2nd weekend part though if he were to just switch it around, but not opening weekend..

At this point (this year), a sum like this one is virtually impossible for any movie.

I am willing to bet all money I have that no movie will make that much either this year or next year or the year after that.

Well, who would have predicted Titanic? It's extremely unlikely, but there is always a remote chance that some film will come along, shock us all, and have the amazing legs need to pull in those numbers.

Well, I mean the fact aside that no first release has come closer than within $160 milion to Titanic yet, we are not talking $600 milion here, but $830 million. I mean a second Titanic within the next three years is very unlikely, but a movie to outgross Titanic by over $200 million is impossible.

Adjusted, Titanic is nearly there. It's possible IMO since, as close as it came, Titanic didn't have a perfect run. Well, no film has a perfect run; you can't have absolutely everything go right. There is room for improvement, even if not much. But again, it's extremely unlikely.

You see, Titanic is not even there adjusted yet. Its release date was extremely lucky chosen as it had very little competition. Right now the market is really oversaturated. The studios push the limits of the summer and the holiday season. I mean, they release a Christmas flick like The Polar Express in the beginning of November and a blockbuster like xXx2 in the end of April. Every month gets a blockbuster now, the market is too saturated at this point.

Just look at Meet the Fockers. It has had an exceptional run actually and yet failed to get to $300 million. Only three films besides Titanic got to $400 million in their first run.

Spider-Man was a phenomenon and even so, its legs weren't that amazing. They were exceptional for such an opening, but overall not that impressive.

Star Wars: EPISODE I - The Phantom Menace had twenty years of anticipation and the biggest fanbase ever.

Shrek 2 was a sequel to an overall-beloved CGI animated flick which always score well with audiences.

That's it. None of them was released in winter. No Lord of the Rings film managed to get $400 million and that despite humongous critical acclaim and great response from the audiences.

I am sorry, but $830 million domestically is not within reach for the next couple of years. It will be achieved eventually when a movie ticke will cost $20 or something, but not yet.

Ah, my first box-office fight with David in a long time

hehe, I've missed it.

I don't know what else to say other then to repeat what I said before. Yoo bad this is one of those theoretical BO fights in which it is unlikely either of us will be proven right. Well actually, it's impossible for you to be proven right, and I would need something to earn 830m, which I don't expect to happen.

There is no way possible for me to upstage this, LITERALLY since even my predictions aren't quite that fucking crazy and unrealistic.. I applaud him.. =D>

This guy seems to be upset with most of us for saying his predict is impossible.

This thread is disappointing. I was expecting from the title to find out how much biggots were predicting for Star Wars Episode III and I find only the prediction of someone who hasn't yet even been proved to be an individual biggot, let alone predictions from more than one.

The box office for REVENGE OF THE SITH should fall between PHANTOM MENACE and ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

Opening - $87 million (109 million 4 day)
Closing - $367 million

That's more like it. I spotted at least seven biggots on that list with which to create an average comparable to non-biggots.

Anyone who calls The Phantom Menace a masterpiece has serious issues, such as a strange sexual attraction to moronic talking lizards, or maybe they've just found the perfect relief for a case of masochism:
Whatever man just go along with the crowd and say The Phantom Menace sucks: you know you like it. You just don't want to admit it because you are too scared and will hide behind movies like Citizen Kane and the Godfather.

Adjusted for inflation Titanic is at $802.2 million and Star Wars is adjusted at $892 million. So it is not "impossible." And just because it is a few years apart means nothing. Star Wars outgrossed Jaws in 2 years and E.T. outgrossed Star Wars in 5 years.
