I think the Ring 2 is doing well.
I don't know why people were predicting over $50m for this one.
I mean the second one wasn't a blockbuster smash, it only made about $120m or something. If it was a sequel to a $200m grosser then you'd have some things to say.
Plus, it doesn't look like this will have half the good word of mouth as the first one did, so I consider a $15m Friday an awesome start. I think it will end up making what the first one did.

Ice Princess got killed by The Pacifier and Robots, though the Princess did hurt Robots a little.

I was just thinking last night that I should come on here and lower my Ring 2 prediction by about $10-$15 million (I had a $59 million prediction). Oh well.
And yes, Kudos to BKB for finally predicting something right, his first time, what, ever?

I think The Ring Two should follow a similar pattern over the weeekend as The Grudge, which also had mixed word of mouth:
Friday: $14,900,000 (BoxOfficeMojo)
Saturday: $16.0 million (+8%)
Sunday: $10.5 million (-35%)
Projected Weekend Total: $41.4 million, just below my original prediction of $44.0 million.

"Only" $15m for Ring 2, what a surprise (for me)! Thought it would be more anticipated and at least get close to $20m (and stay about flat on sat), but apparently i was wrong. I see it making less than the original now. Oh, well...

Looks like BKB would be very close that it would barely pass 40 million dollars. I think we should now all bow to BKB to honor our agreement
:worthy: :worthy: :worthy:
BTW damn you people for making me hike my Ring 2 predictions
Im coming after you Zing :duel
Then again it was payback for my high Robots prediction

THE UPSIDE OF ANGER made an estimated $500,000 on Friday so it has a nice shot at sneaking into the top 10 for the weekend. I hope it does beat out CONSTANTINE for the #10 spot. That would be cool.

BKB said something around 39 million dollars, hes still close though, I dont like it when people try to find a justification to backtrack on their word. At least admit hes right as he did admit wrong in his past

Well its a sequel, had more hype around it and opened to less than what people were expecting here. I think its multiplier would be worse. Its going to end up making around Ocean's 12 numbers and probably worse

Hey, I'm not trying to backtrack (my final prediction was $45M, more or less the area it will make), I'm just saying I don't think people should be melodramatic and declare the movie a flop or something, because it certainly isn't.

Flop maybe not. Underwhelming numbers, I say yes. I remember some posters calling other posters crazy for having any predictions under 45 millions and hyping the shit out of the Ring 2's impact. So what did go wrong when most of the midnight showings for Ring 2 where packed and people were saying it would lead to a 50 million opening. Probably bad WOM? I dont know. Sounds a little like frontloadedness to me. One thing for sure, the movie will make a total less than what people were predicting. It would now have to struggle to reach that 120 million caliber mark

Not bad for the ring 2, the first only made 15m on its opening weekend so this is pretty good start. Robots is dropping faster than I thought, I doubt it will pass 125m now. I predict similar to 50 first dates 120m.

Uh-oh, I'm out of the duels game I think. ](*,)
Oh good, this means that I'll beat you this time int he derby game (Thanks to that 60 million prediction for the Ring).
See, I told most of you it was because of those Regal underbookings is why the gross was not as high as we anticipated. So my 42.1 million prediction looks very close. And for Ice Princess, well, it looks like that Rag, Samweis and I (who all predicted under 10 million) will all drink on it. :alc: Cheer's matings.

Alright, I gotta admit straight up that I was wrong. I guess that all those subpar horror movies in the past few months hurt it, along with the fact that I was unaware that Regal controlled as many theaters as it did, way more then Rush Hour 2. I doubt it'll drop on Saturday, no PG-13 horror movie EVER does, especially in March. There was Spring Break for some people, but it's an extremely limited amount of high schools so I doubt it'll have a big effect. At least, I hope it doesn't, right now I just want it to beat 40 million or else BKB will come knockin....

I have to say it!! I was right! All those $60 million and $70 million predictions were ridiculous. That being said, this is still quite a SUPERB number for The Ring Two, and I am definately happy and excited for it.
PEACE, Mike

Yeah, it's still going to be a huge hit, I just also think it has some missed potential.

uh-oh :yikes: It's things like this that remind me why I'm glad to be pals with the Ultimate Troll, because he is going to shake his tail from one end of the forum to the other.
As far as the underwhelming number goes, maybe, just maybe, many people felt like I did about the first one. It was a good movie, but nothing great, and not scary at all like people tried to exaggerate that it was. I remember the big deal that was made over the first one, and everybody going on and on about how scary it was. I was glad that I didn't fall for it, and rented it instead , because it wasn't scary at all. From what I've gathered, WOM on this one is probably going to kill it.
Some of you guys were going way overboard on those predictions, and I would suggest staying away from all threads about this movie for your own safety until it's out of theaters, because BKB will have no mercy on your souls. :bur:

I think the Ring 2's opening is a littel below what I thought it would do. I thought 50 mill for sure. But seeing how bad this film is, it will not make it to 100 mill. It will drop like a frikkin stone next weekend.
