I want to see it but only for the eye candy. Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert are what I am referring to. Paris is going to be killed off. There is no doubt in my mind about that. Plus the R rating definitely helps. It's been a long time since I've seen a good gory horror movie.

Woah, way too much, considering it's rated R. I'd say even $15M below that is probably still too much.

While that is possible... $37M?!?!

I'm 110% sure that House of Wax cannot, and will not, open to more than The Ring Two.

maybe your right...34m sounds more realistic. Basically, Scream 3 type numbers

Ahhh, anything over $20M for this movie would be a massive surprise.

I think it's going to be a small solid hit.

Opening: $13M-$16M
Total: $34M-$44M

I have to admit that I might see this, especially considering I heard Paris Hilton gets violently killed off. That'd be a treat.

Seriously, the fact that Hilton gets murdered in a movie might add like $10M to this movie's gross.

PARIS HILTON promotes new line of WB' tshirts bearing the words

"SEE PARIS HILTON DIE. MAY 6"

MILD SPOILER OF ONE INJURY TO PARIS.

"in Us Weekly:
Hilton Promotes Her Screen Death
Hotel heiress PARIS HILTON is so proud of her death scene in her upcoming remake of horror classic HOUSE OF WAX, she's approved a line of T-shirts promoting her demise.

The blonde socialite has given film studio WARNER BROS the go-ahead to distribute promotional T-shirts bearing the words "SEE PARIS DIE" alongside "May 6", the movie's opening date.

She says, "I have the coolest death scene in the movie. I die in sexy red lingerie - very sexy lace panties and a bra. It was really cool to watch myself (die in the movie)."

Producer JOEL SILVER adds of Hilton's "wild" death scene, "They had to put her on a dolly, they had to pull her back. It's a combination of science and acting and emoting - and she had never done this before!

"That stuff's not easy to do. When the knife goes up her foot... Picture-making is more difficult than people realise."

Hehe!

So it seems also that Paris goes through alot of greusome injuries before she actually dies.

The one mentioned above would be Sooooo nasty! Ouchhh!

Glad she's loving it.

"Coolest death scene in the movie"

Producer Joel Silver say's it's absolutely "wild"

Hehee!

Roll on MAY 6.

Anybody else think that the reason Paris Hilton is in this is because her charactor dies?

This actually looks pretty solid. I'm definitely excited for it. I love Elisha Cuthbert and the trailer is actually great.

I think it will do solid, probably doing GOTHIKA numbers:

Opening: $16 million
Closing: $50 million

The whole Paris Hilton thing could really backfire - It´s a great marketing tool but at the same time could make the movie look cheesy and cheap in a straight-to-video kind of way.

Hope not. The movie sounds like fun, almost like a softer, actually with a bit of plot version of "House of 1000 corpses".

My Prediction

$16,000,000
$48,000,000

I'm curious, but is that 48 Million worldwide or domestic?? :-k I guess I see you have 16 Million for the weekend and let's say it fell 60% on it's 2nd weekend which would be about 6-7 Million and a total of 23 Million altogether after 2 weeks.. I mean, you think this movie could go further than that to get to 48 Million based on the % drop??? :-k This has CURSED written all over it from the feel of it and that's not good?? :-k

No BKB there have been no test screenings yet sorry. So you can't even say it's not that good.

Anyway, it's an R rated horror flick, with a trailer getting rave reactions, a big name teen cast, and a summer release date.

I think a total gross somewhere in the $40M range seems right.

And eh,... FINAL DESTINATION 2 opened to $16M and grossed $48M in FEBUARY 2003.

Official Sypnosis revealed:

From the official website (http://www.houseofwaxmovie.com):

What begins as a weekend getaway for six friends becomes a terrifying fight for their lives in HOUSE OF WAX, an exciting re-imagining of the 1953 horror classic from Dark Castle Entertainment and producers Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis.

A road trip to the biggest college football championship of the year takes a turn for the worse for Carly (ELISHA CUTHBERT), Paige (PARIS HILTON) and their friends when they decide to camp out for the night before heading to the game. A confrontation with a mysterious trucker at the camp site leaves everyone unsettled, and Carly has her hands full trying to keep the peace between her boyfriend Wade (JARED PADALECKI) and her hot-headed brother Nick (CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY).

They wake up the next morning to find that their car has been deliberately tampered with. At the risk of being stranded, they accept a local’s invitation for a ride into Ambrose, the only town for miles. Once there, they are drawn to Ambrose’s main attraction—Trudy’s House of Wax, which is filled with remarkably life-like wax sculptures. But as they soon discover, there is a shocking reason the exhibits look so real.

As the friends uncover the town’s dark secrets, they are stalked by a demented killer and find themselves in a bloody battle for survival. The group must find a way out of Ambrose—or become permanent additions to the HOUSE OF WAX.

I'm really anticipating HOUSE OF WAX now. It has an old school feel to it. I'll have to see the original now.
