I'm leaning towards Sideways.
I was the same way couldnt stand either one of them and couldnt stand any of thier movies... HOWEVER... this movie ( M$B ) has become my fav of the year and SHOULD win the oscar

Will see Oceans 12 this weekend; although Focker Congestion is still a very big issue at all multiplexes, "12" may have a tough time following it.

Only One Screen for Wedding Date. That is not a good sign for hit status.
Also, I am working night shift on Friday, so expect good reports.

I don't think anyone is expecting The Wedding Date to be a substantial hit, Scott. Considering what it's budget is (I don't know, but it's likely to be small), the studio shouldn't have a big problem getting profit out of the release, though

2 people in a 351 seater.
Trailers:
The Cave
Constantine

The plot is laughable at best. Couple of scary moments.
Should have watched Hide and Seek.

There was one more guy other than me. But again when I watched The Grudge on opening day, there were only 8 people for the afternoon show (another theater though).

Interesting. The Wedding Date has sold out its upcoming show at my theatre, but Boogeyman (which actually starts earlier) has not.

So you two think Wedding Date can do around 11mil huh? Im thinking about buying it for EZ's boxoffice game for 11mil, I already bought Boogeyman for 13.5, I think it can do atleast 15mil. Hopefully I see some better crowd reports for it.

Congratulations, Boogeyman, on being one of few sequels to actually top its predecessor, if only by the slighest of margins.
Oh, this wasn't Darkness Falls 2?

There was a line outside of the auditorium waiting for the next show, which started a half hour after I left.

Sorry, makeshift...I'd only say "yes" because I'm holding it long over on HSX.
It's pretty bad..worse than White Noise....
Darkness Falls 2 pretty much sums it up.

Eh...
Remember my main complaint about The Grudge, saying that it had no scares? Well, it at least tried for them. Boogeyman doesn't have a single earned scare -- you'll find yourself jumping due to gratingly loud musical stingers and shock cuts that have nothing to do with the rest of the film. For instance, there's a shot where the main character tugs a closet door handle (s..l...o....w....l...y...). Oh boy, we're supposed to be anticipating this. And you know where the scare comes from? A musical stinger and a flash cut to a weird CGI face rushing at camera for no reason. Then finally the door is opened with no hassle.
That said, it's almost worth seeing for the embarassingly bad "creature" CGI that constitutes the film's climax.

Million dollar baby
85% full in a 200 seater(My guess)
A 6:45pm showing
Trailers:
The Ring Two- Personally I love this trailer, it looks great
Cinderella Man- It looks cool
Constantine- Looks good
There was more but I got there late.
I just got done with the film and it was incredible. Hilary Swank is soo fanatastic. Bravo , what a great performance. And Morgan Freeman was also incredible, he was one of the best parts of the movie. It had funny parts too. The movie was very sad I knew the ending but I still loved it. I give this film a solid A. I think that Morgan and Swank should win an oscar. Also I think that Eastwood was great and does deserve the oscar nom. that it got.

Saw the 9:30 PM of Boogeyman. It was sold out in a tiny 150 seat screen. No reaction to any of the trailers because the 13 and 14 year olds present were too busy yelling across the theater at each other.
Yeah, this was pretty terrible. I went in with lower than low expectations because of the terrible WOM, but even they weren't met. The strangest thing about this film is how incredibly boring it is. Things are always happening, but none of them are interesting or scary in the slightest, so I just kind of sat there waiting for something to surprise me. Nothing did. The jump scares are so ridiculously telegraphed they fail to make you jump, so they end up being filler. The only people that would find this scary are either people still in middle school or people who haven't seen any horror movies - because there is nothing new here. The director and cinematographer do manage to put together some nice, rather arty shot compositions, but the film is so ridiculously edited that a single shot doesn't last for more than three or four seconds. I had a hard time understanding exactly what was going on in this film because of the editing. Everything was so spastic and all over the place. The ending was terrible, too. Why does everything have to be CGI now? It just looks... terrible. I have a really hard time getting scared of something that looks like it's out of a seven year old video game.
Also, i'm normally a fan of hiding the creature in the shadows until the final reel, but this film desperately needed to reveal their villian early in the game. Whenever Barry Watson's character went into a closet, I literally forgot what I was supposed to be scared of because there had been little mention and no sign of the titular character throughout the film. God, the more I write about it, the more I hate this film. What a joke. A complete waste of space. As a horror fan, i've become literally embarrassed by the dreck passing as horror that's invaded the theaters this year. This stuff is just atrocious. White Noise, Hide and Seek, and now this. Who are these films made for? Who could possibly find this stuff entertaining or scary? I guess my answer lies in the fact that my showing of Boogeyman tonight was filled with middle schoolers and high school freshmen screaming at the top of their lungs, dropping cuss words into their sentences every other word, and using the word "fag" a lot. I'm seriously considering never seeing another PG13 horror film in theaters again. Every single time it's like this, and at least I could help in the cause of stopping production of these films. Horror has become a joke. It's something that 13 and 14 year olds see on Friday night as an excuse to try and impress each other with who can be the most blatantly homophobic in a public setting, and who can scream the loudest at shit that's not even scary. Wow. This has turned into quite the little rant.

Boogeyman was just horrible, and there were only a few people in the theater. But I had one of my funniest movie theater experiences in Boogeyman. These two black girls just would not shut up. They were FAR more entertaining than the actual movie.
"OH MY GOD! LATOYA! DID YOU SEE DAT BOOGEYMAN EYES ARE ALL FREAKY AND SHIT!" Actual quote people.

makeshift wrote: The jump scares are so ridiculously telegraphed they fail to make you jump, so they end up being filler. God, I wish I could say the same. I could see everything coming from a mile away, but the theater's sound system was so ratched up that the auditorium would literally vibrate every time a stinger hit. makeshift wrote: I'm seriously considering never seeing another PG13 horror film in theaters again. Hey, don't you dare miss out on The Ring Two.
Normally PG-13 horror auditoriums don't bother me -- but there was a trio of girls no older than 13 (dressed like cheap hookers), who kept running out of the theater, and then back in. They were more entertaining than the actual movie.

For Better indication, here is my theater report.
Wedding Date (300 seater)
12:50 - 19% full.
3:15 - 19% full.
5:40 - 42% full.
8:05 - Sold Out.
10:35 - Sold Out.
(Looks like we underestimate this one. I see a 3 million opening day based on this)
Boogeyman
12:45 (400 seater) - 9% full.
1:35 (600 seater) - 7% full.
2:15 (600 seater) - 3% full.
3:10 (400 seater) - 15% full.
4:00 (600 seater) - 6% full.
4:50 (600 seater) - 10% full.
5:40 (400 seater) - 16% full.
6:30 (600 seater) - 39% full.
7:15 (600 seater) - 43% full.
8:10 (400 seater) - Sold Out.
9:00 (600 seater) - 75% full.
9:45 (600 seater) - 64% full.
10:40 (400 seater) - 83% full.
11:30 (600 seater) - 46% full.
12:00 (600 seater) - 30% full.
(Solid, but not in area of White Noise or Hide and Seek. Probably more in the Exorcist 4 area, which means it will get 6-7 million today).
As for the others, compared to last Friday, Hide and Seek dropped 65%, Alone in the Dark dropped 85%, Are We There Yet dropped 16%, Million Dollar Baby dropped 8%, Aviator dropped 35%, Sideways dropped 23%, Fockers dropped 22%, Carter dropped 49%, and Racing Stripes dropped 40%.
Overall, it was a moderate Friday, mostly because the openers dominated.
