M$B opening is in line with Mystic River a $13 mil opening was not realistic. The Aviator went up this weekend and should be at $70 mil going into next weekend, I'm not disappointed when a film increases it's box office from weekend to weekend.

Well, BloodRayne is coming out later this year, I think...

I predicted fairly low for Alone in the Dark ($5.2) and I'm still going to get a 0%!!
Now I'm quite sure of his next 3 video game videos combined will not pass $20 million!

Ouch for Alone in the Dark. First time I see a horror movie bomb so badly. Seems like most people knew it was from the director of House of the Dead and opted for the far more appealing Hide & Seek.

Yeah, I think so - I thought 3m would be a lock for Alone in the Dark and I hoped for 6-7m. With 0.85m on Friday the weekend gross will be around 2.2-2.3m, with a little luck 2.5m... ouch!

A very real possibility. I'm not certain though as it is still possible the studio will attempt to release it theatrically to attempt to make as money as possibly, which obviously won't be much at all.

Actually I think it was more that the advertising was terrible. The trailer was simply atrocious and did not help to build any anticipation for the film.
I didn't make the Uwe Bole connection until I looked it up online and I doubt many people know the director from any of the others that fail to make a name for themselves.

Ok for MDB, hopefully it'll have a nice increase today.

I think the weekend multiplier will be a little over 3(like House of the Dead), which will give it 2.5-2.6 million.
My projections:
1. Hide & Seek - 21.8
2. Are We There Yet? - 14.7
3. Million Dollar Baby - 10.5
4. Coach Carter - 7.3
5. Meet the Fockers - 7.1
6. The Aviator - 6.8
7. Racing Stripes - 6.2
8. In Good Company - 5.8
9 Sideways - 5.7
10. The Phantom of the Opera - 4
11. Assault on Precinct 13 - 3.8
12. Alone in the Dark - 2.6

There isn't much doubt that it will increase substantially as it is an adult-oriented film and will likely increase 50%+ today.

BRILLIANT for HIDE AND SEEK..
Everyone knew AITD wouldn't do well, but no one thought it would bomb so bad. Poor Tara. lol.
But yay, another big $20M+ opening horror film.
Wonder if Boogeyman can?

Over 50% should be quite achievable considering it had increased over 60% on Saturday until last weekend due to snowstorm. Such a massive expansion will cause it to be a little more frontloaded toward Friday, but the multiplier should still be fine.

I wonder if Alone in the DarK is even gonna top $2M this weekend, depends on how frontloaded it is. M$B is kinda a dissapointment, but it's not for the mainstream crowd. Overall good numbers, BO is off to a great start this year.

Bloodrayne looks to be the best Uwe Boll picture out there - its marketing and stars are certainly the most appealing to date.
But thats not saying much.

Pretty disappointing for Million Dollar Baby to make only $0.1 over Mystic River's first wide weekend. Especially since Mystic River had 500 less theaters and no Oscar nomination hype to help it. There should have been substantial growth between Mystic's opening and Million's. Now it seems highly unlikely that Million will outgross Mystic, and we can definitely kill its chances at winning Best Picture. =(

Actually, I think M$B did quite good. I was expecting on par with Mystic or even less. Despite the fact Mystic didn't have oscar buzz yet, it had more STAR POWER.
Nobody really wants to watch Hilary Swank
