I am leaning towards Hitch. Smith seems to be a lock for 130m. Watch it go and flop. Haha. [-X

Ok that was one that you were right about. Big deal, I could point out many where you were wrong.

Ok. But I think you are wrong about Hitch.

When you say that Will Smith's biggest draw is action, not comedy, you do realize that most of the action movies he starred in were partially comedies, right? Bad Boys, Men in Black, Wild Wild West, etc.

Wasn't Wild West a bomb or just So-so.
Anyway, I think of most of his movies as action, not comedies.
Def - maybe action with comic relief
Independence Day
Bad Boys
Men in Black - maybe the most borderline.
Anyway, I was one of Smith biggest fans in the 90's and I still think of him as a likable actor but I just don't think he is as big as 10 years ago or as bankable.
That said, I think he will get the urban BO, like those Barbarshop movies, but the key question is how much of the other BO will the movie get. And with that other story about the fat white actor from tv, I don't see that adding to the appeal or BO.
I just think it will be at 100 million at best.

Smith is as bankable as ever right now, his last 5 movies have consistently done over $100million, and as for comedy; Almost all his movies borderline on comedy, IMO the comedy value in MIB2, BB and BB2 far outweigh the action of the movie.

Also what's up with the early January release date. Isn't this usually the time the studios are releasing the movies that didn't fit in other place. Couldn't they put it another place for a bigger release and BO.
So is their anything to this January release date - good or bad or no big deal?

This January actually has a good slate of films, and doesn't look like it will have the same weekness as previous years.

Well, the movie's release is next weekend in over 3,400 theatres. I expect an opening of $35-40 million.

Hitch is estimated to be in 3,000+ theaters now, according to BOM. I'm willing to bet that jumps up to 3,400.

Hey, 50 First Dates could get almost 3,600, my bets are on Hitch getting at least 3,500.
