I actually have been tracking this film. My teacher saw the film and loved it, its about phyics I think.

Ah, further proof that all movies that aren't about child angst that come out of Oregon suck (Stand By Me, Mean Creek, and The Goonies yay. What the Bleep Do We Know, The Hunted, Men on Honor, Paint Your Wagon Red nay). Maybe if I didn't know that this was just an adverteisment for a cult I could have enjoyed it... nope, nevermind, I couldn't have. Be it the nonsensical CGI, amateurish acting or psychobabble that makes the Matrix sequels look like See Spot Run, there's little to nothing good about this... film, if it can even be called that. This is one of the few times I actually enjoyed sitting in the theater bathroom more then actually being in the theater. It's damn near unwatchable, with the only few good things being occasional, albeit completely random, moments of slight humor. D-

UNBELIEVABLE! The movie rose again in its last two weeks and that after almost a year in theatres. This run is really nearly unexplainable. I have a feeling this film will stay in theatres for quite a while considering it started adding theatres again and its PTA is back to $1,000+.

Incredible run. I anticipate it will again add theaters and as it opens in new markets its PTA will rise again for a while. Should make another $2 million +.

As for the total gross, I expect it to hit $11 million as t has shown amazing holding powers so far, but it was go far beyond that. I wonder when was the last time that a non-IMAX film that never even hit 150 theatres made $11 million... Quirky 'Bleep' banks $10 million in B.O.

The question for "What the Bleep Do We Know?!" is how the bleep did it survive theatrically for a year and then spawn a conference?
Though overlooked during awards season, New Age indie pic "What the Bleep" has managed to keep its theatrical release going for more than a year; it recently crossed the $10 million mark.
And on Feb. 4-6 at the Loews Hotel in Santa Monica, 600 to 800 fans will "deepen their understanding of ideas and concepts put forward in the film" as they hear pic participants speak.
Samuel Goldwyn Films' prexy Meyer Gottlieb says he sees the film as part of a worldwide interest in New Age themes that generates hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue from books, videos and conferences. A core of the film's strength, he adds, is in repeat business.
"This is the first film of any visibility to tap into that," Gottlieb says. "There's a sizable audience out there. We just have to do a better job of creating programming for them."
The pic's DVD, skedded for release March 15, is ranked first among upcoming videos in Amazon.com's Early Adopters ranking.
And "Bleep" may be inspiring a cottage New Age film industry. Jan. 29 saw the bow of "Indigo," a fictional film about how a child with extraordinary spiritual powers (called "Indigos" in New Age circles) salvages a dysfunctional family.
Produced for $500,000 by Emissary Prods., pic played a Saturday morning show at 100 four-walled AMC theaters and at 613 other locations, mostly New Age churches.
Going into the weekend, producers had pre-sold an estimated 80,000 tickets.
Producers hope the weekend perf of "Indigo" leads to a more traditional theatrical distrib arrangement.

I'm not usually a fan of new agey hokum, but this was a very well made film that combined quantum physics with the best of new age concepts. It was greater than the sum of it's parts, one of my top ten of 2004, and very entertaining and thought provoking. I went to see it three times at various time in it's long run, and there was always a good crowd in the audience, so I'm not surprised at it's BO success...

Finally another update. As you see this movie just doesn't want to die. It has been in theatres for over 13 months now and just doesn't want to stop, even though it's out on DVD already. Last weekend it rose by 95% for some reason. This upcoming weekend, however, it loses 2 of its theatres, so I expect a big drop.
