It's been a while since I've seen a movie twice at theaters. I've been trying to save money. I did though decide to see this one considering that I loved it upon my first viewing.

The Ring Two
9:50 PM
About a 400 seater
10%-15% full

Trailers:
The Island - Quite a bit of talking afterwards. Strange, last night there was nothing with a much larger audience.
Red Eye - Nothing. Looks ok IMO.
The Corpes Bride - Nothing. I can't see any BO potential for this one.
I can't remember any others although I'm certain that was not it.

Movie: I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time. My favorite movie so far this year. 8.4/10 Enough to get it in my top ten any year.

I think I'll be seeing THE RING TWO again tonight. I'll report back with another crowd report.

Good to see repeat viewings. I've thought about seeing it again, but I might wait until it hits the discount theater.

Trailers
The Skeleton Key (nothin'; looks okay)
Red Eye (whispering; looks great)
Fever Pitch (laughs; looks funny)
War of the Worlds (whispers; can't wait)
The Island (nothin'; can't wait)

The crowd was enjoying the movie throughout. Laughing at the extra cheesy moments. Naomi's famous line was the moment of the night. Had everyone cracking up. Literally. I heard mixed reactions going out. Most said good, but the first was better.

Movie
After such a long wait, I can't say that I didn't love it. I guess it's not what I expected, and I wasn't as dissapointed as I could have been because I was warned ahead of time about it. It's definently not a horror movie. I don't think they really even tried to scare the audience (except, maybe, once). It's definently a drama with some freaky moments thrown in. I loved the story. I'm surprised, because I thought the story would be the weak part about the movie, but it was it's strong point, in my opinion. Naomi Watts's performance was good, though it doesn't match up to her performance in the first. As for The Ring vs. The Ring Two... well, it's a no contest. The Ring was the best horror movie I've ever seen. It brought a great premise, and scares. The Ring Two brought a great premise and answered a lot of the unanswered questions in the first. It definently doesn't meet up to the first, but I never expected it to. The one thing I noticed was that they didn't really focus too much on the actual tape in this movie, but more Aden and Samara. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot, especially since I expected to be a little dissapointed. A-

I'm anxious to see what your REAL grade is for this movie in the next week or so after your restrained enthusiasm has died down for this and you can really look at the big picture and realize the movie blew.. You gave this movie an "A-" But for a movie that you gave an "A" for which techincally would make it damn near perfect, you still seem somewhat bummed about it from your brief review for giving this such a high grade as though your mind was made up ahead of time before seeing it to give it this grade.... :-k

I'll find out after I rewatch it next week. However, I didn't have a predetermined grade. If I did, it would have been an A, most likely. It's an A- because though it doesn't match the first one at all, I still loved it. And, it's that high because unlike a few, I never expected it to top the first one. I didn't have a predetermined grade because I couldn't decide before seeing it whether it would be good or not (based on mix reviews from people here). I ended up on the high side of grades on the site, though.

I've seen HITCH, not THE RING 2 as you might expect. The screen from Edwards Renaissance Stadium Theatre was 50~55% crowded out of 193 seats. I give this a B/B- b/c of... idk, maybe a little bit chemistry-less romance between Eva and Will, some boring dialogue lines, and probably also a few ridiculous character names (Why is the woman's name Allegra?). However, it's still fun entertainment. My sister and probably all but the audience seem to like it more than me

Two movies today. Yep, I'm tired.

Movie #1: Ice Princess
Noon show, 200-seat theater, about 15 people.

Trailers
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Herbie: Fully Loaded
Fever Pitch
A Lot Like Love

Movie
What a charming surprise. Ice Princess was a delightful film that I'm glad I saw. Although the film is hardly original and follows many of its plot elements like you'd expect, it has its heart in the right place. Michelle Trachtenberg is wonderful as Casey, a science geek who applies basic physics to the practice of figure skating, where she eventually realizes her dream. Joan Cusack (Casey's mom) and Kim Cattrall (Casey's coach) are both quite good as two different parents who have two totally opposite opinions on nearly everything. As Gen, Hayden Panettiere represents a typical "blonde snob" from these types of movies, but Ice Princess changes this and allows her character to be someone who is decent and kind-hearted. She wants to *not* figure skate as much as Casey wants to. Many of the characters in Ice Princess have more of a depth to them than is usual in these films. We can understand many of the things the characters do and say, which is rare for a sports film. B+

Movie #2: The Upside of Anger
2:35 show, 200-seat auditorium, nearly sold out (about 10 empty seats).

Trailers
Monster-in-Law
Fever Pitch
Melinda and Melinda
Crash
Dark Water

Movie
Mike Binder's The Upside of Anger is a wonderful, emotionally sophisticated dramedy with great writing and acting. The film has six characters present, all of whom are developed extremely well. Binder (appearing in the film) is good at creating a character who comes across as sleazy and cad-ish, but not villainous. Erika Christensen, Evan Rachel Wood, Alicia Witt and Keri Russell all shine as the four daughters. Much has been said about Kevin Costner's supporting performance - it's probably his career-best as Denny, a former baseball player (what else?) who tends to hide his emotions under alcohol and snarky comments. The film belongs to Joan Allen as Terry, though. Her ferocious intensity, acid-tongued wit and touching vulnerability collide into a performance that might be one of Allen's best. She completely deserves Oscar consideration for this performance. Although The Upside of Anger occasionally descends into murky, sad depths, Binder never allows the film to lose a sense of humor, which is important. A-

I saw The Ring Two at my theatre (Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18), which only had one screen at 2:10. It was in one of our bigger auditoriums, 650 seats, and it was 65% full. Missed the trailers. I myself enjoyed the film immensely, my favorite film of the year so far.

Yeah, Ring Two's splitting people right down the middle into love it/hate it camps. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground.

Here is my most important crowd report ever and it will rule all of your predictions for weeks...

The Pacifier
7:40 PM, Monday, March 21st, 2005
150-Seater, 25-30% full

Trailers:
A Lot Like Love - weird movie with Ashton Kutcher
Herbie: Fully Loaded - not much, but a lot of the crowd wasn't there yet
Miss Congeniality 2 - nothing
Ice Princess - nothing

The Movie:
Meh... it was predictable and there was only a couple of actually funny scenes. Vin Diesel did his part well, but the rest of the stuff was pretty flat. The ending was nice because it had a lot of neat twists in it, but yet kinda predictable. The action scenes aren't bad, actually some were pretty well-choreographed.

Grade: B/B-

Now let this crowd report sink in... I know it will affect everyone's Ring Two predictions as well as your Meet the Fockers predictions.
