You see, i hadn't even realised he was British, i just assumed he was american

He's English. Born and raised in Canterbury. Moved to London on his own at age 16.

Full Weekend Numbers 6 - 8 May (£'s)

1 Kingdom of heaven 2,530,445 NEW
2 Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy 1,785,683 46/34
3 xXx2:The Next level 555,358 -40
4 The Wedding date 529,085 -21
5 The Interpreter 508,727 -32
6 The Amityville horror 364,058 -34
7 Guess who 274,576 -34

13 Downfall 74,709 -30
14 Kaal 37,495 -64
15 Beauty shop 36,049 -51

Kingdom of Heaven dropped slightly from the estimate and lands the 128th best opening of all time. Hitchhiker has a fairly average/decent drop of (34% or 46% including previews) and is easily on its way to a £10million total. Another great drop for The Wedding Date, the best drop in the top 15, there should be a good multiplier for this one. Surprisingly solid hold for xXx2, with only a 40% drop.

Screen Averages:

1 Kingdom of heaven 5,661
2 Hitchhiker's guide 3,865
3 Waqt 2,604
4 Kaal 1,785
5 The Wedding date 1,758
6 The Interpreter 1,466
7 xXx2:The Next level 1,395
8 The Amityville horror 1,194
9 Guess who 1,002
10 Beauty shop 736

Nothing spectacular really, Waqt and Kaal continue to have strong averages despite dropping this weekend.

14 Robots Fox 73,902 -39
15 Waqt Eros 60,422 -37

Another boring weekend really, Kingdom of Heaven just holds off Monster in Law for a second week at number 1. Roll on next weekend when ROTS will light up the UK box office.

Top May Openings(£'s)

1 The Matrix:Reloaded 12,165,276
2 Attack of the clones 11,386,209
3 The Day after tomorrow 7,321,633
4 X2 7,037,861

I see no reason why ROTS should open lower than Attack of the Clones, but can it open higher than Matrix: Reloaded and take the biggest ever opening in may??

All the top 10 openers performed solidly.

The Jacket made £175,773 from only 130 screens for a £1,352 pta, 5th best of the week.

A Good woman grossed a solid £130,193 from a smaller 105 screens for the 6th best pta of the week.

Very surprisingly Seed of chucky performed at £109,110 on just 92 screens for the 7th best pta of the week.

All 3 movies had ZERO marketing from what i seen.

Nice for MONSTER IN LAW.

MIL opened just a tiny bit above 13 GOING ON 30 Here [excluding 13's previews which i think puts it ahead] but at 110 more screens which is huge in terms of UK screencounts [100 = what like 800 is in America] That dosen't bode well for M-I-L with the lack of real buzz here and Sith opening imminently. I don't see it dropping massively, but big holds like 13 [which had a near 5x multiplier] is pretty much out id say.

Internationally the results were comparably potent. The picture bowed in 105 territories with the only notable absentees being Korea and Japan that open respectively next week and in July. The Sunday morning international estimate was $144.7 million with Sith breaking records in many countries but certainly among the top five debuts regardless of location. Great Britain led the charge with $26.8 million followed by France at $22.3 million.

Thats £15,050,000

To compare:

Attack of the clones 11,386,209
The Phantom menace 9,512,295

Fantastic opening, biggest in may ever, and 5th best of all time!

So a 26.8 UK and 22 in France...What do you guys expect the final grosses in those countries will be when all is said in done.

I'll go with a 75-55 finish for UK and france respectively.

Nice openings, I am guessing the four films above it are Harry Potter 1-3, and Titanic, right?

Well its listed as a June release here http://www.sky-is-falling.co.uk/opening ... month.html

And here http://www.zanzaro.com/azkaban/dates.htm
and here http://www.thezreview.co.uk/comingsoon/ ... tter3.shtm

There are also a couple that list it as 31st May, but does it really matter? its only another statistic.

Anyway, without the 4 days of previews mon - thu Prisoner of Azkaban only made £9.3Million over the three day opening weekend Source

ROTS has a slim chance to take the top weekend ever without previews depending on its thursday gross.

Still a great opening by Star Wars, overestimated, but lands on the all time opening chart at number 6, behind Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King and is already #3 on the 2005 list. Simply fantastic hold for Monster in Law, the only film to hold up really well against ROTS. Pretty much all the over films were hit hard as expected.

Any news on a screen count? i've not heard anything about it. I think it should be able to manage £600k, i've seen quite a few ads.
