that because unlike B2TF and MR it did not have some retarded to be concluded/continued sign along with an appalling cliffhanger, It felt mroe LOTRish you know the story was going to continue yet it still felt like that part of the story was finished, it didnt feel like you had been ripped off.

3rd in a series depends all on the WOM of the previous movie. Twas why X3 increased, and MI:3 died.
WOM for Dead Man's Chest in my opinion is really great, but people still like the first one better. It's your regular sequel. It should be huge, but not moreso than the 2nd.
By the way, I'm not sure if it's screen count will be much bigger. With Spider-man 3 and Shrek 3 still in theatres, there's not that much room to breathe...
I'm willing to bet that Shrek 3 will move in the next few weeks.

Shrek 3 should definately move to another time, maybe Christmas or somewhere, otherwise it'll be killed between Spidy 3 and Pirates 3 live!

I think it's Pirates that'll move. To July 2007.

I agree. There is no reason for Shrek to move. I think $440 million for the predecessor is confidence enough for them.

I still don't think either will move. Moving to July doesn't help, it's more crowded there, I'd say. Potter, Simpsons, Transformers, 10,000 B.C., etc.

NO!! lol Shrek ain't scared of the pirates.
it's in the best position anyways. a weekend pretty much all to itself with the
2nd wknd being a 4 day. they'd be stupid to move it.
right now i see it doing $115 to $130m OW and another $60-$80m on memorial weekend.

And yes, when it does, I'll reverse that statement. But there's no guarantee, Supes stayed behind Pirates, and the Shrek series has always liked May. If Potter goes to November, Pirates might elect for the same July weekend that the last two movies opened on, giving it more screens and more space.
Shrek might also just move a week back, it'd open right after Spidey, but it's second weekend would be empty and the farther from Pirates and Surf's Up, the better. Thing is that 2007 is hell everywhere for competition, so every movie is hackling.

Then you have more release date chaos with everything fleeing from each other.

I don't think either movie will move. Bruckheimer confirmed Memorial Day plus Pirates can't move to July and there's no other place to go. And if it did move I don't think any studio would put a movie there to replace it and go up against Shrek and Spider-Man. So all movies should just stay put. I got At Worlds End at 370 million domestic total for now.

If this makes 380, then I'll say the next one makes 365.

Well, if POTC doesn't move, I think Shrek should move to the holidays. December 2007 is still pretty much untouched. Spider-Man works fine in May.
I doubt any movie will move, though. Which could cause problems. Three $100+ million openers? Even in May...

3 $100M openers? May 2007 will have 3 movies opening with a minimum of $120M. Spidey 3 being the lowest.
Yeah, I think Shrek 3 will remain underpredicted for a while. I would expect a $35M Friday with a 45% increase on Sat.

So, reading between the lines, you're saying PotC3 will suffer the most from the 3 movies.

Yes. Barring divine intervention, I do not see AWE passing DMC's opening weekend.

IMO At Worlds End will increase, think the frachise is looking like it could preform like LOTRs on a much bigger scale
I think if Pirats 2 makes 550m then the next is going 600m+
