I could definitely see Equalizer ending up below 100M if Gone Girl breaks out.

I think it won't effect it too much. The Equalizer will attract action crowds, while Gone Girl will attract those looking for a psychological thriller. The R rating could hurt both though. There are only so many adults to go around. Hopefully enough teenagers will sneak into Annabelle so both openers can do well and Equalizer can have a strong hold.

How is Interstellar's early opening going to affect question 8?
I am, of course, a proponent of the question being altered to compare 5-day to 5-day.

I am, of course, a proponent of the question being altered to compare 5-day to 5-day. I am going to have to throw out that question now, unfortunately. The chances of Interstellar winning that question was low, but it definitely would be unfair to increase those chances by expanding it to a 5-day opening (whereas that might have been the point when people would've changed their answers). On the flip side, keeping the question as is lowers the chances of Interstellar's 3-day opening beating The Hobbit's 5-day opening.

Why don't we just ask people if they would change their answers?
I don't see why anyone would, as I don't expect much difference.
But we can throw it out if that's what you've decided.

Re: KJ's Fall 2014 Box Office Contest - Updated Standings (9
I have always tried to avoid seeking potential new answers from players after the game has begun for two reasons: 1. It's not always possible to reach everyone, so I don't want to put anyone who doesn't visit KJ as much at a disadvantage. 2. The spirit of the game is capturing everyone's mindsets before the season starts.
I hate throwing out questions obviously, but it's par for the course now as it usually happens to at least 1 question every game just due to the fact that we predict so early.

Compared to the old (supposed) opening, the new 3-day opening of Interstellar will be deflated, and the opposite for the 5-day one. Just go with a 'middle way': remove Wed from the count and use the Thu-to-Sun number.

I'm fine with dumping the question. That's been our standard all along. Why can't movie studios be more considerate of our game?

Personally I don't think this question should be voided. Basically it was a matter of "Which will open bigger?", not a 3-day, 4-day or 5-day opening.

i really hope the boxtrolls plummets from here. hopefully Alexander and the book of life will kill it. normally i would root for a film like this, but I made that 51 million prediction when its reviews were at 20%. I didn't expect it to be decent.

I had a dream that Mockingjay opened to 95 million and Interstellar opened to 24 million 5 day. It was the apocalypse.

Go Maze Runner! And a few more bad Annabelle drops might net me points for that too.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 and Paddington have moved to 2015, so Ouija and Unbroken are, I presume, both in play.
