I can't see AMITYVILLE pulling in more then $20 million this weekend. Seriously, NOBODY I know is talking about it besides people on the internet. All of the other "big" movies, people in school were at least talking about.

It will make 20 Million for sure. And it's the only new wide release opening this weekend so that helps it.

Everybody's predictions are so close together that The Ring Two may as well determine the winner. I think the derby average could score 90% this time, and there is a definitely possibility of someone getting the highest score ever.

The Amityville Horror - $29.5 million
Sahara - $10.9 million
Sin City - $8.0 million
Fever Pitch - $6.5 million
Guess Who - $4.2 million
Beauty Shop - $3.8 million
Robots - $2.7 million
Miss Congeniality 2 - $2.5 million
The Pacifier - $2.0 million
The Ring Two - $1.0 million
I think the Amityville Horror will do quite well. Great commercials, only film opening, and an excellent theatre count. Not only that, but I think it is going to gain an older audience; those who saw the original. Both my Uncle and my father were talking about this film because they saw and remembered how scary the original was. They're going to see it this weekend.
I went low on The Ring Two because of it's theatre drop, and I think it will definately be hurt by The Amityville horror. Why see a disappointing/bad WOM horror film, when you can see Amityville? Just my thinking...
Predictions are definately tight this weekend, and there are going to be some great scores, unless we ALL end up being wrong in terms of general predictions.
PEACE, Mike

I would really, honestly be shocked and almost despondant if this movie didn't open better or at least close to what I predicted, I really would cause it is hands down the best horror movie in over a year and the critics don't know what there talking about..

BKB, you're going to be shocked if this movie doesn't open with or north of $50M?
You're just setting yourself up for disappointment there, that's far too high.

Sweetheart, I'm already shocked, not so much by this not coming close to what I thought it would, but more from the amount of reviews I read both here and other sites just reading so much into every little detail in the movie, trying to find implausibilties over it in an effort to put this down.. :???: That's what I'm more shocked by than the numbers.. It's actually quite sad, but I suppose I'm thankful I'm not like that and I'm easier to please then most people.. Oh well, if I'm wrong on my prediction and I'm already conceeding I am, then I'll take my medicine and change my signature for 2 weeks.. A bet's a bet and I am honorable about that.. It's not really a big deal.. It certainly won't alter my life any and even better, I'm seeing this again tonight coming up.. I suppose if I'm happy, then that's what counts in the end.. I can't force someone to like a movie like me, that much is certain.. I guess I shouldn't of hyped it up as much as I did, but what can I say?? It's rare for me to get excited about any movie today, much less a horror movie..

Well remember B, if it DOES get above 45 million I'll put whatever you want in my sig until Star Wars May 19th, and if it goes under 40 million I win and you'll have to put whatever I want in your sig (You can keep other stuff, but at least that) in there until May 19th.

Dude, I've already conceeded that I lost cause there's no way this movie will even come close to doing 40 Million much less what I predicted and it's a crying shame cause it REALLY is the Best Horror movie in well over a year and it shocks the hell out of me that mediocre horror movies like the RING II or The Grudge can open to 40 Million with very little to no scares at all, but this horror movie, R-Rating and all with the whole ball of wax can't even do that and it really is good.. I'm saddened by that.. Have you seen this yet or do you plan on seeing it or is the theatre you go to really strict on carding folks under 17??

Haha, that's cool, let's just both have what we want in his sig. Anyways, I had to do this musical thing and then the after party last night, same with tonight, but I hope to see Amityville Horror at some point.
