If you would like to experience these kinds of crowd reations, I suggest trying a screening in or around Hollywood at a theater patronized by the Hollywood community. You might try the Arc Light Dome, the Universal Cineplex on the hill, or visit Westwood off the U.C.L.A. campus on an opening night. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences regularly features retro screenings of Oscar classics at their theater for a $5 public admission (Los Angeles and New York).
Second choice would be an art house/revival house patronized by film students, or visit an urban theater where the local folks become part of the show by reacting to the film.
Arc Light is actually always my first choice, since its only a couple of minutes away. But tickets there are also much more pricey then other places.

Saw a 2:45 screening of Sin City at Mira Mesa Stadium 18. The seats were 650 and some poople had to sit on the floor, it was packed. This was probaly the first sold out show I've been to on Sunday... Anyways trailers were.... Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, House of Wax, Amityville Horror, and some others that were either really bad or not worth mentioning. The movie was awesome, has a safe spot in my top 10 of the year. I don't know if the crowd liked it or not... It was pretty silent. Can't wait to see it again on my birthday next Friday. \:D/

They should just round the times to 8:05, 10:20, and 12:15.

Here is a Friday / Saturday / Sunday comparison at my theater.
Beauty Shop
11:45 (300 seater) - no show Friday / 6% full/ 5% full.
12:40 (300 seater) - 16% full / 4% full / 7% full.
1:30 (200 seater) - 19% full / 19% full / 15% full.
2:35 (300 seater) - 14% full / 12% full / 21% full.
3:25 (300 seater) - 14% full / 20% full / 24% full.
4:10 (200 seater) - 16% full / 20% full / 33% full.
5:10 (300 seater) - 13% full / 17% full / 22% full.
6:10 (300 seater) - 18% full / 25% full / 13% full.
6:55 (200 seater) - 37% full / 30% full / 27% full.
8:00 (300 seater) - 49% full / 55% full / 18% full.
(Overall, it dropped only 30% at our theater, so the Sunday numbers maybe too low).
Sin City
11:30 (600 seater) - no show / 6% full / 6% full.
12:15 (600 seater) - 14% full / 9% full / 7% full.
1:00 (400 seater) - 15% full / 14% full / 14% full.
1:45 (400 seater) - 20% full / 23% full / 24% full.
2:30 (600 seater) - 18% full / 15% full / 20% full.
3:15 (600 seater) - 16% full / 22% full / 24% full.
4:00 (400 seater) - 27% full / 18% full / 30% full.
4:45 (400 seater) - 21% full / 31% full / 38% full.
5:35 (600 seater) - 26% full / 18% full / 30% full.
6:20 (600 seater) - 20% full / 24% full / 28% full.
7:10 (400 seater) - 36% full / 38% full / 38% full.
7:50 (400 seater) - 75% full / 56% full / 53% full.
8:45 (600 seater) - 75% full / 68% full / 43% full.
9:25 (600 seater) - Sold Out / 75% full / 45% full.
10:20 (400 seater) - Sold Out / Sold Out / 54% full.
(this may look like a small drop, but with no 11:00 show, and no 11:55 show, and no 12:30 show, business was off 40%, good, but the 28 million estimates sounds right to me).
In other news, Fever Pitch sneak was 80% full Friday, but was Sold Out Saturday, but only 60% full today (both in 150 seaters).
Overall, this was one of the slowest Sundays ever. In fact, this was worse than Easter.
