Can MILLION DOLLAR BABY make $100 Million DOLLARS?
What do you think....?
I think it can, this week it had a 13.1% decrease, which is good at $610,000 in week 18 . It's at $98,690,000...so...what do you think....
I'll be so glad when it does, it deserves twice that much, but 'll still be glad....

It should be close to $99 million this weekend, then should hit $500,000 or so over the three day weekend, and hit $100 million in two to three more weeks.

Of course it will, because it hasn't had it's discount run yet. It is still in first run theaters. Besides, I think Warners would want to keep this in theaters until it hits the mark if it's that close.

With absolute certainity, it will cross $100 million. I see a total gross of around $101-102 million, just behind The Aviator.

M$B still has a good number of theaters in my area. It's still at the two most popular near me, and it's still playing at the two big Boston theaters. I'm sure it's like that in other big cities across the country, so it has to be doing very well for the number of theaters it has still.
I just looked up the numbers and with a total of $98,880,983, it should cross the $100 million mark pretty soon. If it has the kind of numbers it did last week ($628,184), it should cross next weekend.
Also, to my surprise, it has made $85 million worldwide. That's a pretty great run this film has had.

I wish it would get there sooner than later so they can yank this out of theaters and get the DVD out. I haven't heard of a date announced for it yet, but I sure hope it has some extras, unlike Mystic River.

Mystic River had a 3-Disc set that came out along side the bare bones release with special features that included a soundtrack. It was a little pricey but it was worth it. Here is a link for that DVD. Mystic River 3-Disc Set
It wouldn't surprise me if the release for Million Dollar Baby was similar.

Hmmm, I own the 2-Disc Edition of Mystic River with quite a couple of extras...

Those bastards at Warner Bros. are on my list. The only thing available when I bought it (which was when it first came out) , was the bare bones DVD. Thanks for the link, as I'll definitely be getting the other one. Extras matter to me.

I have no idea where I heard this, but I thought it was announced to come out late June already.

Most Oscar-hyped movies have had very good runs internationally in recent years, though I think the title might have even restricted this one a bit because a lot of people I know at least who had heard the film was "good" didn't actually know what it was about, thought it must be to do with babies and a lot didn't see it because of that. Maybe I'm just generalising because I'm surrounded by idiots?

As for M$B crossing $100m, i'm 100% positive it will.

I think this might barely make it. We shall see though. It deserves to. Great movie.

What's so special about the number 100? Why not 79, or 103?

because it is the first 3-number number, not counting 000.

100 is a binary number, whereas 79 and 103 are not. Since you appear to frequently use computers, I think you can appreciate how special the number 100 is.

I was joking. Didn't think people would take it seriously.

i think it will. it may need a little extra boost and expansion into some more theaters but i believe it has a chance at making over $100 million

It will FOR SURE! And it might end up beating THE AVIATOR. I'm hoping it will.
MILLION DOLLAR BABY is at over 99 Million after Friday (even if I haven't seen its Friday number yet, it still will have pushed it over 99 Million). It should eventually surpass the 102.2 Million or whatever THE AVIATOR is currently at. AVIATOR doesn't seem likely to pass 103 Million, while BABY will pass 100 Million soon at least. It has a ways to go before it hits DVD (July 12th) and it's also still grossing quite a bit more each weekend than AVIATOR is now, and AVIATOR will be on DVD soon (May 24th), sooner than BABY at least. BABY is starting to have really small drops now and will display great legs until it hits DVD. It's not a sure thing yet but it definitely has a shot at grossing more than THE AVIATOR and I'm definitely rooting for it! It will be an interesting competition to watch.

The Aviator will stay ahead unless the studio gives M$B an extra push.
