Sequal to an aweful movie, but apparently there is enough interests for it to make a run at top 10 for the weekend.

monday drops surprised me, but these are making more sense, with fever Pitch and Guess Who, Beauty Shop, etc, dropping less than the more intense "weekend" movies.

Kung-Fu Hustle increased yet again to $280,000. Suppose it stays the same today, and with 150% increase on Friday, which shouldn't be hard for a R-rated film in April, it will have $700,000, which points to another weekend of over $2M, a PTA of $30K, and a drop of less than 20%. Looks quite promising.

Well if State Property 2 follows Assault on Precinct 13 (some extra frontloading getting equaled out by there being a box office hurting snow storm on AP13's weekend), it'll finish with about 2.3 million for the weekend. I'm not surprised, but I could see how most people here would be since it's an been getting an almost exclusively urban ad campaign.

Y'know, I had seen a few TV spots and a lotta my friends were talkin about it, but I saw the trailer last night and y'know, it actually doesn't look that terrible. And it IS heading for a damn big 10K PTA this weekend too.

Im really into Urban Crime Drama movies and I gotta say State Property is one of the worst ones i've seen. It'll have a big drop today, and the weekend for it will be lackluster. I remember Tupac Resurrection having a nice first day then dropping BIG time on Saturday.

Yeah, but this is a Wednesday, and not a holiday one either. It'll definitely clear 2 million for the weekend from this, Assault on Precinct 13 had a multiplier equiavalent to 2.3 million for this, and that had a terrible snowstorm that killed many movies.

maybe, I think that the drop may be natural though, the kill bill films naturally droped around 15-20% on wednesday thoughout there runs.

Woahhh, 280,000 for Wednesday? Or last weekend went from 269,000 to 280,000? I don't know what you're talking about, because it didn't have a 2 million weekend April 8th so how could it have one again? It's not getting an increase in theaters... however, I do agree about a PTA of 30 K and drop of less then 20%, but otherwise I'm confused.

Oops, sorry. It's $28,000 for Wednesday. I was too eager and added a 0 myself.

I got confused and went back to check the stats in the weekend numbers report on pg. 2. I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on.
Anyways. I think it'll hold pretty solid though, as xia said, not a big drop at all. 20% still sounds about right. When I went to an afternoon showing, the theatre wasn't even half full, but considering it was so early in the day, it wasn't bad at all. I don't see there being any less people in there than that this weekend.
the more I think about it, the more this is a botched release. There's not that much coming out this weekend, they might not have gone for wide release, but they could have at least upped the ante to 20 theatres and put it in a theatre or two in all the major cities, then expanded from there the following weekend.

Yeah, I think that 25 theaters would've been good. But it's getting TONS of marketing for a foreign movie, so I'm not too worried.

Kung Fu Hustle is getting a great amount of advertising, and I think the anticipation is quite good.
My fraternity is organizing a time to go see it together.
