Well it looks like its at 59% currently at RT and it seems like its about 72% at cream of the crop. I predict it will end up around 63% fresh and about 73% at cream of the crop. Not bad but not great either especially for a oscar contender

It now stands at 64% Fresh/67% Cream of the Crop. Average rating is 6.7/10.

RT Rating: 64% (Average Rating: 6.3/10)
Metascore: 64%
Metascore and RT match each other which pretty much suggests that that is where the movie will end up. I see it remaining around the same at MetaCritic and getting to around 69% at RT. That is, as Roid Rage said, not bad, but it's not excellent either. Nonetheless, I think that people and normal moviegoers get the impression of this movie being mostly well-liked and praised by critics, therefore, I predict a high PTA in its opening weekend and a healthy run.
Final predictions:
Opening weekend - $5.9 million
Total gross - $74 million

BOM's taste is a little odd, IMO. At least it seems to be on the opposite side of mine in many instances.
I have read a lot of reviews and gone to different forums, and the general consensus is that the actings are good, but the characters are just impossible to like. It's cold, very cold.

In this whole year, these are the only movies to get F's from BOM:
Welcome to Mooseport Scooby Doo 2: Monster's Unleashed Envy Soul Plane White Chicks Fahrenheit 9/11 Suspect Zero Friday Night Lights Closer
Wow. To say that Closer is to the level of Scooby Doo 2 and Envy is really saying something.

Well, at least Friday Night Lights is on there. I thought that was a good movie. And F 9/11 seems like a well put together movie, so...I still can't believe Kranks got a D+.

I believe that in the end Closer will finish with around 70% at RT. Not bad, but not astounding either.

No, but I think I start getting Alzheimer when it comes to Croatians. You were supposed to be included that Tribute that I have written, I even wrote down your name on the list, but in the end forgot to include you in the actual post.

If Samweis Gamdschie stuck with his original $7.7 million prediction, he'd have nailed it.
As for now, it's right between greasedlightning ($7.2 million) and jmart007 ($8.2 million). The actuals will tell.

Hey, yours by far wasn't the lowest one. But as I said, a $10,000 PTA was a given

Hard to find one. Normally a film like this doesn't do 476 theaters right away. It's either very limited or over 1000 theaters the first week. Bridget Jones 2 obviously first comes to mind, but that's a sequal and not an oscar contender. I was thinking about The Hours, but that was in very limited release for 3 weeks before expanded to 402 theaters in January, so the daily gross will be quite different.

Wow at the F at Box Office Mojo.
I had the pleasure of seeing it 2 days ago and it is a fantastic film, don't listen to the reviews.

BJ:Edge of Reason. Both anglophilic romance oriented movies that had mixed reviews and mixed reactions.

I don't think they match. Closer also isn't expanding to more than 2000 theaters immediately as The Edge of Reason did. The Edge of Reason is also a sequal, while the anticipation for Closer is more from its award buzz and cast. Love Actually may be a better comparison.

You could be right, but I think Love Actually was more liked by its audience. I used BJ:EOR as a guide to my predicting the first weekend which is why I mentioned it is all.
