3-Day
1. Spongebob Squarepants - $26.3 (-19%)
2. Christmas with the Kranks - $24.2 (NEW)
3. The Incredibles - $21.6 (-17%)
4. National Treasure - $20.9 (-35%)
5. Alexander - $16.7 (NEW)
6. The Polar Express - $11.1 (-22%)
7. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - $8.8 (-20%)
8. Ray - $4.6 (+5%)
9. After the Sunset - $3.9 (-30%)
Same weekend as 1999, except there were no good kid movie holdovers to compare. Pokemon was a front loader fanbase, so no good comparison (although Spongebob might... that's a 5% chance).

Not when the market is still saturated with other family films like National Treasure,Sponge Bob, Incredibles and Polar Express. Why would a parent want to bring my kids to see a Tim Allen film when there are other alternative kid movies out there. Tim Allen isnt exactly box office gold with the exception of the Santa Clause(Toy Story doesnt count since people watch it for the 3d animation). Joe Somebody and Big Trouble didnt exactly set the world on fire

The thing is that Christmas with the Kranks screams Santa Clause 3, so I think Santa Clause is a better comparison than Joe Sombody. There are plenty of family dollars to go around for all the movies.

It will do good Wed, Thurs and MAYBE Fri just due to the fact family is in town and it is a Xmas movie BUT and I say BUT I have seen this movie, I love family movies, but this is not a good family movie, its just plain terrible, The 5 day might be good but the 3 day will suck and then drop hard due to WOM until Xmas weekend when this will be the only other thing besides Polar to watch that = Xmas.
Alexander 3day = 17
Kranks 3day = 16

I think in the end the huge family competition as well as insnanely bad reviews will somewhat hurt Christmas with the Kranks.
Alexander (3-day) - $18.3 million
Christmas with the Kranks (3-day) - $20.2 million
