From Charlie:

Looks like $7M+ FRI for #RedOne, giving it $10.7M opening day. Headed for $30M weekend.

At least it did better than Here. $30M is solid enough and if it plays till Christmas could have a decent total.

I mainly credit The Rock for this.

Yeah that's not bad at all. I think it can do fine over Thanksgiving week, but we will have to see how much the wind gets knocked out of it next weekend by Gladiator and Wicked.

It has an A- cinemascore which is good for something like this.

The budget... lolol what the fuck

If it had been like 100m budget this would be fine.

Venom is like the Fast movies where the domestic has dropped but is still good international (over 400 WW already)

'Best Christmas Pageant' did terrible, experiencing a 73% decline from last Friday. This figure includes preview showings, so the overall weekend drop won't be nearly as severe. Despite potential rebounding, the drop is still significant, especially considering the positive reviews and word of mouth.

It’s first Friday seemed too big so it having previews makes sense.

Charlie is saying 13m saturday. According to him TF was just 6.75m (Fri was overestimated). That is a crazy increase for sure. I guess the fight did impact BO big time yesterday.

Red One as it was meant to go to streaming just needs to make back marketing costs to be considered a success nowadays. Obviously they never thought this was going to make the $750m Ww+ necessary to break even theatrically.

Saw this elsewhere but an interesting way to make some money on all these "clearly made for streaming" big budget films would be to make a Last Action Hero style parody were a bunch of the characters are combined ala Avengers.

This will make $100m+ domestic and perhaps another $100m or so OS. Considering it was meant to be a streaming film - this is positive for it IMO despite the $200m price tag.

The theatrical release will help market the film as a Christmas streaming staple for years.

Red One is apparently the first wide Christmas movie to hit theaters since The Grinch in 2018.

Even with the intense competition, with Thanksgiving and it's presence as the big holiday themed movie maybe it can make get to $150M (4.41X multiplier) as a stretch goal.

Wild Robot held decently considering Red One brought some stronger family competition. Going to be close if it makes it to $150M.

I mean we just had The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and how could you forget about Black Christmas (2019)? :P

It is surprising to me that there's not at least one Christmas movie widely released in theaters every holiday season.

There was also violent night and diary of a wimpy kid christmas

There was a bad stretch like that for years 2000-2010, I’m thinking the bad one with tim Allen and Jamie Curtis, the bad one with Ben affleck, the terrible one with Danny devito. The last classic is Just Friends in my opinion. There was also step dads 2 or whatever, bad moms. They’re all the same shit at this point. the quality remains but it’s just gone streaming, hasn’t Eddie Murphy had like 3, and all were hits. the quality is about the same, most families prefer to stay in outside of church, it’s an exhausting day, Irishman changed that outside of the really high profile films. Last time I went to the movies on christmas was the force awakens. I can’t stand going out that day.
