$13M on Wed estimated. Passes $400M in just 13 days. This is going to be at $500M+ even before DM4 opens. 5th fastest to $400M ever outside Dec holidays (where essentially every day is a weekend). $600M is becoming the floor here.

Pretty crazy that after 2020 including Inside Out 2, 6 films will have made the top 20 domestic of all time.

Random trivia point, Pixar makes a run for #1 film of the year domestic every 15 years or so.

They've been #1 only twice:
1) Toy Story 1995
2) Toy Story 2010

Making a run at #3 with Inside Out 2024 given the floor is $600M+ here now but thought that was an interesting tidbit.

Another random point, from 2015 - 2021, only Star Wars and MCU movies were #1 films of the year (other than 2020 BB3), but the last 3 years looking at 3 very different films to be #1 (TGM, Barbie and InsideOut2). I think female audiences are driving this year's #1 and last year's (Barbie), so feel this bodes very well for Wicked. Wicked 2 could be massive next year.

Mentioned it earlier but inflation has gone through the roof. My hunch on Inside Out to win the year was oddly stronger last fall than it was 2 weeks before the release (likely also to the fact that we have recency bias and evaluate new datapoints more strongly) but we should expect $700M+ films every 2-3 years based on inflation adjusted patterns and also should not be shocked for EndGame to be beaten in the next 5 years.

I think you could argue one of the main reasons Inside Out 2 was bigger than Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4 (which both adjust to over 500 million) is it's easier to stand out in 2024 than 2019.

You are spot on!

A $390,532,085 gross in 2019 from Far From Home was only #7 that year. Would have been #3 in 2023 behind only Barbie/Mario! That would adjust to $485,896,771 now. So a nearly $500M tally in 2019 would have only made you to #7 overall for the year.

$320,314,960 was the cut off for #10 for the year (Jumanji 2). Now that would be $383,240,224.

$196,350,016 is #3 for the year with 6 months down!
