Re: December 15-17 Predictions
I think people need a big movie for the family. It feels as if there hasn't been anything for ages. I reckon it can top $35m, and should leg out a very nice gross over the holidays. Migration will pose some competition, however, but they will help one another.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Hopefully ticket sells improves next week because they have been pretty weak songs. With TCP is dominating pre sales and forcing theaters to add more showing to fit the demand and Aquaman looking to be a studio dump maybe Wonka could have good legs.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Color Purple sales are just for 1 day and is not a worry for Wonka. This is a family movie that will play very well over the holidays. I have no doubt this will be the biggest movie of the month and probably for Q4 as well.

Whoever it was at WB that decided to gamble on original, big-budget Barbie and Wonka films for 2023 tentpoles....well done.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Wonka should do about $40m which would be a great springboard to a sizeable gross. Hope so anyway.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Anything $25M+ for Wonka is good in this market. I feel like it will clear $200M+ from that type of OW. $35M+ and it could be headed for $300M+.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Presales for Wonka in US are terrible, hint at $20-25m opening weekend, but it just broke out everywhere overseas, we'll see what happens.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Wonka: $27M
I think it will start relatively slow and leg out over the holidays to over $125M+
I think people are thinking it will break out because "well SOMETHING has to right?" but I really think each movie is a case by case basis now, there doesn't seem to be a guaranteed audience in theatres anymore. And this has some things going against it, Timothee is famous but isn't a huge draw yet, it reeks of "no one asked for this" cash-in.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
Wonka is not a superhero or a fan driven movie. its a movie for families. It will do better than what presales suggest at this point which is around 25m. I am expecting low 30s OW.

Re: December 15-17 Predictions
I'd go with around a 35 Million opening for Wonka. But it will have excellent legs over the holidays. I won't be surprised to see it do around 200 Million.
