THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (2005) - 9/10 (A-)
Okay, I feel that I'm really going to get bashed now. The trailer looked absolutely terrible but the final product was quite good. The cast was great and the pacing was to die for. The movie wasn't scary at all but then again, I wasn't exactly thinking it would be scary. None of the jumps got me either. There were a couple parts that were a bit slow but that's to be expected. I think it's even better then the original. It was a bit more gory than I would have expected, the whole babysitter thing in the closet rocked! Day 28 was amazing too, I loved it. Okay guys, bash away. Just remember, I didn't give it an "A," I only gave it an "A-"
Now I feel bad that I wanted it to bomb so badly but still ... the trailer was fucking horrible.

The movie looked bad, the final product was so much better then the trailer. I was judging from the trailers.

I thought the trailers were great, but I near about hated the final product. It just was not good, at all.

See? Totally different between me and you. It's just an opinion.

This movie was the best horror film of the year thus far. Still doesn't mean it was all that good. With the choices this year, Seseme Street takes Manhattan would seem oscar worthy in comparison.
I expected far better (I always fall for this trick).
Next comes House of Wax. I don't expect much. Maybe, just maybe I will be surprised. I try so hard to try and not judge a movie before seeing it. I agree. It can be difficult. I have been pleasantly surprised by certain films which I thought I wouldn't like and vice versa. That's why I try to go in with an open mind.

That's certainly a possibility.

The Ring Two was "seriously" better. Does that calm your nerves?
