I didn´t like "High tension" but definitely, there is much more to it than just "a guy chasing girls through the woods with a chainsaw". And the movie has great atmosphere... But being released dubbed - or subtitled - won´t help at all. I can´t see more than $2M. Whihc would still be pretty good for a foreign flick.
"The devil rejects" will make less money than "house of 1000 corpses", basically cause many people who went to see "Corpses" didn´t like it at all, It´s more of a hardcore horror fan thing. I can see it doing $12M or so, tops.
"Dark water" could surprise, but being the last of a long series of american remakes of japanese horro films won´t be very helpful. And I love the original, but part of its appeal was its deliberate slow pace... I don´t know. I guess $30M should be fine, but we´ll have to check out the marketing, and If the movie it´s actually any good...
I´ll bet for "Red eye". It seems to be a xcrowd pleasing, fast paced action.thriller, with two rising stars and Wes Craven´s name in it (Yes, it didn´t help "Cursed" much, but a name most of the time dóesn´t instantly mean money, unless you are Steven Spielberg. It can help a lot, though ). Problem is, I´ve just read a bad review of a screening test over at AICN, so... who knows.
"House of Wax" has Paris Hilton against it. It makes it sound like a such a B, straight to video kind of film... therefore don´t think It´ll cross over to non-horror fans. I can see $25M, but more than that...

HIGH TENSION will easily make more the $2 million in it's whole run, it'll be ride. It'll probably make more then $2 million opening day. Believe me HIGH TENSION will definetely surprise.

High Tension will not make that much. The trailers are too strange and hardcore for the average moviegoer. All the trailer shows is a girl running through the woods being chased by some guy. I don't expect more than $10 million total.

High Tension won't be on enough screens to make $2M opening day.
Which is a real shame.

I wish I was as sure as you are... Are there any precedents for dubbed horror films?
