Is Assault on Precinct 13 another Flight of the Phoenix?
I dunno guys. I can't wait to see this, it looks awesome, and the reviews say it's awesome, but I'm thinking that like the other recent "man's movie" remake Flight of the Phoenix, this'll be a movie that thanks to bad marketing gets a low opening and ends up being quite under-rated. What do you guys think? Right now, I'm going with about a 10 million 3 day, 13 million five day, with a total of about 30 million. Who knows though? I'd be delighted were it to pass 15 million opening weekend

I agree with pretty much everything you said, except i'm thinking an even lower opening is in store. Damn shame, too, since it looks great.

Yeah, it's badly marketed in my opinion. Around $10 million opening weekend, and about $30-ish total.

My Predictions:
Friday: $4 million
Saturday: $4.8 million (+20%)
Sunday: $2.7 million (-40%)
3-Day Weekend -- $11.5 weekend
Monday -- $2.1 million (-25%)
4-Day Total -- $13.6 million

I'm afraid it might happen. I really don't see much marketing, no big push anywhere. It looks good and I liked the original, but I don't think many are familiar with the original. I see an opening weekend of around $12-15 million in 5 days and a total of under $40 million :???:

It could be..Like Flight of the Phoenix, its another remake to a b-movie. At least in John Carpenter's 13th Precinct, theres alot of campiness that made the movie enjoyable. Judging by the trailers for the film, it looks too serious for my taste and doesnt have the cheesiness of the original one

IMHO, this one is having horrible marketing - they make it look blander than a minimalist art gallery.

FOTP had a boring premise: building a plane. The concept for this one, attack on a precinct by rouge cops, will at least attract a larger audience opening weekend. Although I will go slightly lower then you with a 3 day weekend of about 8-9m.

It looks to be as memorable as that one with Colin Farrell.....SWAP? SWAMI? SUING? S.W.A.N? Either way that crowd of "Shieldgirt" actioners hasnt really been seen to since Man On Fire,

S.W.A.T made 38 million opening weekend, 120 million total. That's nothing to cough at, especially for a low budget (for a summer movie anyways, 60 million) action movie.
