"I tremble, they're gonna eat me alive"
44. "Help I'm Alive" by Metric
There's no music video for this one, so you get a live version instead. And its another female lead alternative band, this time from Canada and featuring the wonderful Emily Haines. As I mentioned in my movie thread, I heard Metric for the first time in Scott Pilgrim (though it turned out to be Brie Larson on vocals for that song). I come home, look it up and am immediately met with this gem. I love me a good lead off track and when the drums kicked in I knew I was in for a great time . Definitely one of the most iconic drum riffs ever for me which is what sets this above the rest of the amazing Fantasies album. It also shows off Emily's range as a singer from hauntingly low to pleasantly high. The repetition may be off putting, but I love how each of the four sections can lead into any of the others.
Is that fan made? I didn't see it on their Vevo page. But yeah anyone who just wants to hear the studio version of "Help I'm Alive" should click on this one.

"I've got another confession to make"
43. "Best Of You" by Foo Fighters
"Best of You" is more of a showcase of Dave Grohl than the entire band, who still do back him well in the shadows. They have plenty of other songs with a stronger heart of rock n roll. Yet the criteria for this list is the songs I pop hardest for when they come. And there is little else that makes me pop like the opening of this song. How can it not get us excited and immediately go to karaoke and do it ourselves? The lyrics can be interpreted as romantic (or anti romantic), but this is also a time when everybody was writing anti-Bush songs, so it can also be a Punk-like rebelling against the system type song. Everyone does have their chains to break! Maybe Trump will inspire them to write something excellent as well and I'm now looking forward to their new album even more. Cause they may have songs that rock harder, but nothing with quite this much punch.

"There must be some kind of way out of here"
42. "All Along The Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix
All Along The Watchtower, originally performed by Bob Dylan and redone many times since, is a rare instance of an artist turning a cover into their own thing and actually making it better. I'd say most people would immediately think of that iconic opening riff and solo over the version with the harmonica or a faded out version that plays when Starbuck comes back from the dead. Its just a great song made all the greater by the legendary hands of Hendrix.
"But you and I we've been through that and this is not our fate"
It is the official music video. Deco Dawson is the director. For some reason the uploader called it a "short film", but it's the music video. I guess music videos are short films too.

"All Along the Watchtower" is a good song indeed. The sort of song I never think of when doing lists.

"And I hail from the ancient warrior clan"
41. "Warrior Man" by Dr. Dog
The spacey laser noises followed by "I am the ancient warrior man" sums up Dr. Dog's style pretty well. They are a band of the past and future. Southern psychadelic rock, even though they hail from San Francisco. Warrior Man takes us on a journey through the ages, from scribbling heiroglyphs on the dover cliffs to inventing the computer man, hub caps and soda cans. And then when you think the journey is done we jam out for a few minutes longer. I imagine this track is incredible live as they can just go nuts at that part.

"Love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right"
40. "State Of Grace" by Taylor Swift
Oh gosh those drums get me every time. I walked into this song only a casual "I like a few of her songs" Swift and I walked out a full worshipper of the Goddess of Pop. The girl knows how to compose a song and knows just the right music to complement her lyrics. State Of Grace is a transition song for Taylor too, going from her usual country-pop sound to an 80s nostalgia-pop sound that won her another grammy two years later. She's not quite there yet, but when she sings I'll never be the same again it applies to more than just her latest doomed romance.

Re: The Flava'd Fifty: Greatest Songs
Funny note; both Warrior Man and State of Grace came out in 2012, but I didn't give either of them best song of the year at the time. Instead it was "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men, a good song but a song that I haven't even thought about in several years and never considered for this list. The greatest songs show legs even if its only a few years later.

"Yo Doctor here's another track and its phat, watch the sniper, time to pay the piper"
39. "Real Mothaphuckkin Gs" by Eazy-E, Dresta and B.G. Knocc Out
A few days ago I said Dr. Dre had a good reason for his eternal war against the haters. This is why. Its tough being on the wrong side of the hardest diss track ever. Of course RMG is a response to Dre's own "Fuck Wit Dre Day", so all is fair in love and hip-hop. Eazy and co. just get some vicious lines in, mostly centered around Dre and Snoop being "studio gangsters", and there was never a retaliation due to Eazys early death. The unspoken insult is that the beat, produced by Eazy himself, is better than any of Dre's greatest hits.
It is polite and commendable that you guys are adhering to this order (as will I), but I will create my own thread when it's my turn (just for ease of updating/renaming etc.).
Anyway, I don't wish to derail Flava'd anymore.

Not a fan of the black music choices, but a few rock ones are nice.
