It shouldnt really be the lead single. Still high expectations for the rest of the album. They recorded Human for Sawdust but left it for this album so possibly the other songs are more Neon Tiger/Spaceman...

Violet Hill was free on Coldplay's website for about a week in late April. So i do think sales were impeded by that decision. And I remember being able to buy Viva La Vida on iTunes when it had the "Pre-order now" promotion in early May. So Violet Hill never had a chance.

I like the song a lot. I think it's strong. I can't speak to singles, as I really don't watch the charts or care about it outside the context of the album.

It's a good supporting song for the album, but yeah, probably shouldn't be the single.

Yeah it sounds much better in that version, when you can hear all the synth and other instrumental noises. I think I love the song, actually.

Ive only seen them once live and thought they were great. Offcourse they do sound better in the studio - so Spaceman will be even better, but the concert I was at was very good.

Yeah, it's just... I mean I love me some tigers, but it just doesn't work. Flowers attire and movements are also just weak.

The overlapping of the animals and the scenery reminded me totally of the famous buffalo shot. That's why I said it was Ed Wood type of bad.
