 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
"Do What U Want" should have been the lead single.

Yeah. It's fantastic. Happy that she's back. Born This Way (the CD) really grew on me.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
looks like Do What U Want is officially the second single. I guess this is a good idea since I think this will be her biggest radio hit. (although no one expected Applause to be one and it did rather well)

Wise move, though. Do What U Want is really good.

Her team is really bad though. Stick with the plan. Her single release was messy during BTW era and I wouldn't like a repeat of that.

I mean... Do What U Want is so so so so so so much better than Applause and anything she has ever released since BAd Romance. No shock this is slaying.

It doesn't make any sense to stick with the plan since "Do What U Want" shot to #1 on iTunes and has rhythmic radio hit written all over it. We will see. But it's obvious they don't know what they're doing. The whole poll after iTunes concert, then suddenly choosing Venus a song we didn't hear for a new single, then releasing a promo single and turning it into a real one. What if the second promo single does even better on iTune than Do What You Want? Will they cancel Do and make the second one a real single? Also she was very out promoting Venus and especially emphasized the fact it was produced by a female. But I guess feminism takes a back seat to a potential bigger hit. The whole thing is already way too messy.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
I just read on her Facebook that Venus will be released as planned and the video will be released as planned also, but DWYW is the second single (and they don't have a filmed video for that one). That's a clusterfuck. It might create a negative effect, just like Judas/TEOG, two songs that IMHO didn't reach their full chart potential due to messy releases.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
The difference is that luckily DWUW was announced as a second single before Venus's release. Judas/EoG mess happened 'cause Judas wasn't a smash like the label probably thought it would be and Judas was released weeks before EoG. It's still a mess and DWUW is falling hard on iTunes so radio just needs to latch onto it 'cause it sounds great on radio, heard it a couple days ago.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
Well Venus was announced as a second single way before DWYW was even mentioned as the song that will be released as promo single. And it has been falling really hard now and posting really negative updates on iTunes for 2 days now. This could fizzle out really quickly and her team is just so desperate for a huge hit it seems like they're jumping on every possibility without thinking ahead.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
I like it, though I wonder if its current success is largely due to many thinking it's a catchy sex song. If so, that's annoying given the actual message.
Vocally, the song sounds like one of her best that she'll sing very well live I bet. Also, I think it has the highest-note she's recorded before (F5 @2:49, brief, but still). She has gone a little higher during some live-performances, but not by much.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
Eh, why was Venus ever in contention for being a single? It's horrid. WTF Gaga? ARTPOP era is turnin out to be an even bigger mess singles wise than BTW.

She reminds me of Merzbow. Always choosing the wrong song to release as a single.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
based just on that snippet I think making DWUW the single was a good idea. People who've heard Venus in full say it's in the same vein as Bad Romance and Poker Face but I don't hear it.

The second snippet of venus is out and I love it. I just don't get how these two snippets are connected. LOL.

 Re: Lady Gaga - ARTPOP
Ummmm, I actually love this? It's completely bonkers and makes no sense but it's kinda the best Gaga thing on the first listen since TFM era. Go figure.
