Re: Uber & Lyft
I've ridden with friends in an Uber before. I have the app. Never used it myself.

Re: Uber & Lyft
Uber is excellent, only use it when I'm out of Alaska though.

Re: Uber & Lyft
I've never ordered an Uber before but I have been picked up many times by Uber drivers (and more often by China's version, DiDi - they bought Uber China). But I get the sense that it was a fad that is in decline. Not used DiDi for probably a year (my wife included), not even heard it mentioned.

Re: Uber & Lyft
Why is sometimes an answer to what's a yes or no question?
Anyhow, I've used Uber before. It's quite handy and cheap if you're in a hurry. But I use public transport most of the time. Though government is trying to find every way to make Uber go away here. Taxi drivers hold an incredible power over politicians here and they're forcing their hand to ban Uber. It started with tickets, now they're taking away people's cars. It's a terrible thing really. They can't realise we live in 21st century.

Re: Uber & Lyft
I've used Uber in Singapore and India. Its decent in Singapore but really good and cheap in India though you can sometimes have pick-up problems.

Re: Uber & Lyft
I don't have the app of the chinese equivalent myself, but someone booked one for me this morning. As Algren mentioned, in China it's popularity has decreased a bit, as opposed to before, taxis are slightly cheaper now unless you have some uber coupon. Taxi's though, in the city where I'm at, are trying to screw you every now and then with a rigged meter so Uber is the generally more pleasant option. But generally in my daily life I cycle or use public transport, they now even have public bikes around the city.

Re: Uber & Lyft
There is also a local app here called Grab (Taxi). That one is much better than Uber here and has more offers/features. Recently they had a tie-up with regular Taxi's which is better for all, general public (with lesser taxi fares), public taxi drivers (better money) and ofcourse Grab.

Re: Uber & Lyft
Uber is fantastic.
And no not not just for drunks, saved me at least 200 last time I flew if I had to keep my car in a lot at the terminal. Probably the best innovation since the iphone. Fuck cabs!
