Obvious decision is obvious.

And judging from Judge Clarence Thomas' dissent, we still have a long way to go for some people: Holy cow that's wrong on so many levels.

Re: Today is a big day.
It's sad that the people were too lazy to move to legalize gay marriage that the political decision was left to the court.

Really need the millennial takeover to come faster than sooner. Only overly religious loons feel strongly enough about gay marriage to tell people they cant do it. When todays 25 year olds are the normal 45 year olds, the world will look so different. "Struggle breeds greatness" - Much like growing up through the depression created a very strong "greatest generation", I think coming of age during the great recession will make the millennial generation pretty exceptional. Of folks under 35, something like 98% of them identify as "supportive" or "indifferent" on gay marriage. Only a tiny 2-3% of them actual don't want it.

His point that gay's should not feel a loss of dignity if they were not allowed to marry is correct (they have no reason to feel shame) but his point is also totally irrelevant from this discussion. Clarence Thomas is one of those "dumbest smart" people you'll ever read about.

Re: Today is a big day.
This is so gay.
I'm curious to see how the opposition reacts. I, ever in my naivete, thought racial issues had simmered after Obama was elected, but it's been crazy to see the level of racism that still exists. This will be no different unfortunately.
I do hope these issues are no more in twenty years, when more of the older generation succumbs to the bright white light. It's sad that there are real issues to contend with, yet somehow this was still not OK in some US states before today.

I like that the major protester's biggest ploy was to actually "Flame" himself.

Yeah, the government doesn't have the power to take or give you dignity, but it can insult it.
