In my opinion, I don't think the "self defense" act should be used in this instance. He left his vehicle to confront Martin. Obviously not to murder him, but there was some sort of intent.

But I'm no expert. Groucho would know more than I.

Yes, I have been listening to alot of this trial from the start mostly. The Rachel Jentel testimony was great and most of what I've heard has been interesting to listen to.

What I'm focused on as a viewer is that no one saw who started the actual confrontation and when he was being assaulted he obviously felt he had no choice but to do what he did to defend himself. Maybe it was excessive. Imo, I don't think so.

I think it's kind of crazy that the jury will see no way is it 2nd degree murder, but because of the tricky manslaughter rule the case is seeing, even that will cause him to get 30 years. The Prosecution has just been terrible though.

Too many people abuse the "Stand your ground" law.

I'm going with guilty of mansalughter. Don't think they'll get 2nd degree.

In my view self defense is self defense. Finding him guilty of a lesser charge they didn't originally charge him with is so cheesy.

They do have a case that Trayvon was acting in self defense, if he was in fact "beating up" Zimmerman.

And following the prosecutors closing argument, I'm having a hard time believing Zimmerman.

Will there be riots if he is acquitted?

Were there riots when Casey Anthony got off?

Although that wasn't "race" related.

So... maybe!

Based on law alone, there's no way in hell he should be convicted.

The murder 2 charge was a politically motivated reach, and they haven't even come close to proving it. They knew the judge would instruct the jury to consider manslaughter, that's just the way Florida works. The defense attorney can act astonished, but anyone paying close attention knew this was coming. The murder 3 charge was a bad joke, and the competent defense team quickly got it thrown out.

The prosecution has been awful, and they really haven't even come close to proving beyond a reasonable doubt that he's guilty of manslaughter. They've crafted a plausible narrative that paints Zimmerman as guilty, but haven't been able to disprove the defense's similarly plausible narrative that paints Zimmerman as acting entirely in self defense.

The only hope the prosecution has left is banking on the race card and white guilt, the law has abandoned them for dead.

I think up until the closing argument, the prosecutors were dead in the water. But their closing argument was pretty strong. And, I mean, he DID kill him. So...

Why would I be concerned about Zimmerman saying Fing punks. Eh. The person who is calling Zimmerman a cracker? Child, the prosecutor is saying and referencing Trayvon's running. He's talking about the fear Trayvon had yet how can he be having this fear while confronting Zimmerman at the same time? Why not just run home if you are being followed? Why confront? Eh. Have people seen this child? He was 6' and maybe had a baby face but he was a damn big child.

Fight/Flight. Some people have different reactions to fear.

This should be one of the fastest deliberations ever, he will be innocent fo sho.

Then was assaulted by TM,. People think that once you engage in a specific action that you give up certain or all rights, like carrying a gun as a member of Neighborhood Watch, etc. That is not true. For example, if you eat in a company cafeteria and they have a rule you must wash your hands before eating. If you fail to wash your hands, you do not lose the right to sue them and win a settlement for dangerous food handling if they give you food poisoning.

For example, what if a woman came back from the beach and was dressed in a bathing suit. On the way, she was raped. People would not continuously point out she gave up autonomy to her body, just because of her clothing. It would be ludicrous. However, people have no problem claiming GZ somehow gave up all rights to self defense by utilizing his right to carry a concealed weapon.

People may not know, but I think it would be fair to categorize my beliefs as extremely pro-gun safety. I despise Stand Your Ground (which is not being argued) or carry and conceal laws. However, if they are the law at the time of an event, then we can't penalize citizens for using them, just because we don't like either the laws or the people using them.

I am currently about halfway through Mark O'Mara's closing arguement. I may have more later.

Wow Mark O'Mara just stated in my review Trayvon could run a 4 minute mile if he was in decent shape for a football player. That is a ridiculous statement. I doubt there are more than a handful of professional players that can run a 4 minute mile. Football players are mostly sprinters and that distance is too far for their natural talents. He was really confused during this part of his presentation.

What, do you want him to leave the gun in the car? That defeats the purpose of conceal carry.

There was NO reason to leave the car other than to start the confrontation.

He was either trying to find the exact street or trying to see where Trayvon ran off two. Those are two reasons.

The exact street of the neighborhood he knew? Why would he care where Trayvon ran off too? How does that concern him?
