Post Why?
Why is it that the liberals own the media but when it comes to radio the conservatives rule. The media is so liberal that it makes me puke. Liberalism is a mental disease.

The media is only liberal when a conservative is in office and the media will turn conservative when a liberal is in office. It's ratings that they want and that's how you get em.

I would strongly disagree here. I just think that the contrast is so stark because there really were no conservative stations previously. Thus when Fox sprouts up conservative they are labled 'ultra conservative'. I don't find them any more Conservative than CBS is Liberal.

As for Radio. If the media in one sector is strongly biased Liberal (TV) then another sector will have to be strongly biased Conservative to attest for the other 40% of the population (Talk Radio)

Perhaps you'de all better define "liberal" because, frankly, almost everything I see, read, and hear, is to the right of myself, and all jokes aside, I'm not some extremist lefty.

Also, I think its a moot point. Media isn't "liberal" or "conservative" (well, FOX is, but whatever) they are case specific depending on the "issue," at hand. All lot of reporters don't see how their smaller understandings do not transcend a broader information scheme. For example...they may spend ALOT of time cracking jokes about the war (Most don't by the way) but the introduction of humor, or better yet, responsivness, makes it clear how they've positioned themselves, and fairly easy to "see" through. So forget about the war, or the president, they're too grounded in the immediacy...the media just needs to sell its stories. How ever, it s the long term, *silent* information that we need to look at. And the platform IS NOT consistently progressive. Most reporters LOVE NAFTA...Why? Because journalism, like the service industries, cannot be outsourced, and so Free Trade seems like a GREAT thing to jounalists. How about Derrida's recent obituary in the Times? Obstrust Theorist? What?...they made FUN of a literary intellectual. for chrissake. Its because jounalist identity is often confrontational to academic literary identity. Have you guys EVER flipped past the front page. Trust me, the fashion, home, modern day, even city/region sections are out of this world sometimes. Then again, sometimes they're not.

I think media is more issue oriented than braod platform oriented, so in all but the extreme cases, those sweeping generalizations don't even apply.

Why? Do we only have two dominant political parties?

THe one thing I like about Chris Mathhews is he trys to keep his opinion to him self, and doesnt come out and always say im voting for Kerry. Also MSNBC has Scarbourough and Buchanan, and that about levels it out. I think they are the most balanced one. CNN really doesnt have that one guy you want to watch, they are just...news. Fox is completely biased in my opinion.

Actually, it's the other way around. The media follows what ever party is in power. Look at how "liberal" it was considered during Clinton's term.
