Post Your Fastest Download
For a small file, I once reigstered 400 kbs, but it was some software download.

For a big file, I registered a 286kbs one throughout the file's downloading period, and that was for a 800MB file.

Usually, it's 10-100 kbs. :(

I don't really download from a server so if I find a file on some other forum it takes about 150kb for 1 file at a time. A long time ago when I used to download movies off Kazaa/Shareaza it would be like 300kb.

Where do you guys download your stuff from, lol?

Does anyone make use of the Suprnova mirror? I know the actual site is down, but there is an identical counterpart left.

Most files are not worth the download (and are slowwwwwww). Plus, some films I would never even consider downloading, like Spidey 2 or Incredibles. Gotta support my homies

ADSL

Just kidding. I have no idea; we're a computer services company, and I'm at the headquarters, so it's only natural that we'd have a fat pipe.

You know what's odd?

I just went through various sites to check my speed, and in each case it's different.

I just got one where it said my connection speed is 2MB, whereas only a few minutes ago, another said 314kbs.

Inbetween, I had a file downloading which I just deleted.

How does this stuff work????

Edit: some other tests showed the speed at 957kbs and 1.8MB. This is so odd, I'd never expected it to be that fast

It's 100% the same thing, except it looks different.

But don't download The Incredibles or Spidey 2 :)

Ok, so can someone explain to me why I can never get beyond an avg. of 10-50 kbs downloads, even though connection speed apparently is around 1.5MB/sec.?

The reason you guys are seeing slower speeds than you're supposed is probably because of where you download (bittorrent/kazaa are only as fast as the connections people you're downloading from have). Another possible reason is that your computer might be infested with spyware that clogs up all of your bandwidth. Use Spybot to clean out your machine.
