Another reason Microsoft sucks and Mozilla Rules!
http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/internet/0 ... index.html
Quote: SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday warned of two "critical" security flaws that could allow attackers to use its media player or Internet Explorer Web browser to possibly take control of a computer.
Microsoft, the world's top software company whose Windows operating system runs on 90 percent of the world's computers, issued patches to fix the problems as part of its monthly security bulletin.
It listed both as critical vulnerabilities.
One flaw is a vulnerability in some versions of the Windows Media Player for playing music or video files. The flaw makes it possible for an attacker to use a malicious file that controls the appearance of the player to launch other programs on a computer.
"Application vulnerabilities, such as the issue in Windows Media Player, are a growing cause of concern," Oliver Friedrichs, a senior manager at Symantec Corp. , a leading maker of security software, said in a statement.
Another vulnerability in some versions of Internet Explorer would make it possible for an attacker to take total control of a PC.
Last month, Microsoft issued fixes for two security flaws in Windows that could let an attacker commandeer someone's computer.
Microsoft has been working for more than three years to improve the security and reliability of its software as more and more malicious software targets weaknesses in Windows and other Microsoft software.

Mozilla is up to 20% ... not exactly shabby. Yet they still keep attacking IE ... because it is MUCH EASIER!@
"Finland has the highest proportion of Firefox users, followed by Slovenia and Germany. It found that the open source browser is used by 38, 36 and 30 percent of users in these countries respectively."
For a browser that has been in existence for barely a year, it is quite an accomplishment. I don't think anyone will argue, other than you, that Firefox is the better browser!

Yessir.
It's the same thing with Macs. People think because "they never get viruses" they are automatically the better computer. No, it's just that no one has a Mac, so no one bothers trying to fuck with them.
Still, Firefox is the better browser.

I would love to use the Firefox browser, really. It looks so much nicer and has some pretty cool features. But I'll get it the day when it can finally be used on it's own without certain things not working or certain "attachments" and "addons" and junk needed. The problem for me is that the Firefox browser still cannot be used independently, therefore I am required to keep both Firefox and Internet Explorer on my computer to use. If Mozilla can finally make it so Firefox can be used by itself as a whole, then I'm all game.
PEACE, Mike.

I worship Microsoft.
When I'm not playing Halo or Project Gotham or Perfect Dark on my Xbox or Xbox 360, I am using IE or MS Office. If they only made food and cookware (or opened a restaraunt) then I would never have to use another brand for anything!

They should market toilets.
Sure, they'd probably be full of bugs and prone to viruses, but at least you'd be able to take a shit on one without fear of it breaking.
Come to think of it... it'd probably break.

BTW, Mozilla usage averages out to about 13%, not 20%.
And the stats are inaccurate... I use both, so I would be counted in both columns.
And I find this whole topic a bit ironic. I had to switch back to IE at home because Firefox wouldn't take the cookie and I would log in fresh every time I came to World of KJ.
I didn't bother to tell you because... well... I wouldn't bother to help Mozilla any.
Now... Opera...

I use Mozilla exclusivly and never have to login?
But your right about the stats. I believe they pick a given day and log what % of users (normally tracking over 30 million users) use what browser.
And your right ... worldwide the last deffinate tally had Mozilla officially gaining over a 10% market share. That number has grown since, but not to the 20% mark. More likely around 11 or 12% globally.

I use Firefox most of the time (like right now) but Microsoft sites (like http://www.windowsupdate.com) don't work on it so I still use IE sometimes because I'm forced to. Hotmail works fine with Firefox though.

Hmmm... I'm intrigued by your idea. If they could integrate some games into the mix - perhaps a new Halo where you drop "bombs" on and/or "spray" bad guys in the bowl... it just might work. If so, I could quit using my GameCube as a toilet.
