Post BKB's State Of The World Of KJ Address..
Ok, first of all, I'm gonna go on the record and apologize for my outburst of anger, hurt and frustration yesterday when I said that I'm through with all this Internet Chat Room bullshit... It's no secret that YES, for the goddamn umpteenth time, I was banned from a website for basically, well, being just ME.. I am who I am and in the eyes of many at various movie websites around the internet, I'm the biggest and best troll there is, BAR NONE.. I call like it is and say it like it is no matter what and I think the biggest problem that I have within myself and what prompted me to first join chatrooms like this started back in the summer of 1999 with the Premiere of SW Episode 1.. Here was a movie I had waited for the longest, the LONGEST time like any other fan to see and was pumped up, and hyped up to the moon over it.. In short, after seeing the movie, I casually started surfing the Net and came across sites like TFN, NIGHTLY.NET, BOM, RT, etc and what I saw, shocked the holy hell out of me.. What I saw was a group, a large group of posters just bash this movie to the point where I practically wanted to hang myself afterwards just because I couldn't believe half the crap I was reading... I had never been exposed to the amount of jadedness, cynicism and bitterness I had encountered like that ever in my life because when I was a child growing up, we never had the internet and chatrooms like this... When the Old Trilogy came out in a span of 8 to 9 years for all 3 movies, we never heard or read anyones opinion whether it was negative or positive like we do today....Needless to say, I was blown way by it and as a result, I decided to register and log on to voice my disapproval of what I was seeing and now, in the present, the rest is history.. In this cyber world known as the Net, your either a follower or a leader and if your not part of the pack like at RT, then you get blasted and Banned for dumbass bullshit like I was.. I was a threat to these idiots which is why I was tossed and while were at it, throw in that Assclown Sean Salsbury from BOM for doing the same thing to me as RT did.. Fuck em.. When you really look at the BIG PICTURE, there is just too much bitterness and cynicism in this world for a bunch of movies like this to get dumped on, especially the SW Prequels.. A fine example is this: Yesterday, I was at USA TODAY and every Wednesday, I enter a chatroom with a movie critic named Susan Wloscyzna... I will occasionally chat with her as well as others about upcoming movies and what her thoughts are on it.. As always, I decided to bring up the 1 topic, the 1 Question that has perplexed me the MOST and it concerns the overwhelming amount of negativity of the SW Prequels from the critics and fans in general and how expectations for these films are just so unrealistic in what people expect out of them, in what people want out of George Lucas, that it's enough to make me want to vomit.. Here is what I asked her and what her reply was to me as only a typical dumbass critic or fan would reply:

St.Louis MO: Hey Susan, Nice to chat with you again.. I finally got around to seeing "The Incredibles" and what can I say?? It definitely was INCREDIBLE and probably Pixar's finest yet... I also had the fortunate treat of seeing the new Star Wars EPISODE III Trailer and all I can say is, is "WOW".. It definitely looked very promising which brings me to the 1 Question I have for you: It seems the concensus on the trailer once again is mixed and all these goofy movie websites like Harry Knowles website or Rotten Tomatoes are once again blasting it with the usual rhetoric about how "Lucas shouldn't direct" "Lucas shouldn't do this" and "Lucas shouldn't do that" and I guess my Question is: Do you think after 6 years since EPISODE 1, that it's time for the fans and critics to get over it and accept the fact that no matter how much you'd love for another director to make these films, that people should just accept the fact that it isn't the Old Trilogy and never will be and accept it for what it is??? I mean, what's done is done and if the movies REALLY were as bad as the fans and critics make them out to be, then how come they make the amount of money $$$ they do at the box office, even domestically, if there that bad?? Just a thought..

Susan Wloszczyna: My feeling is Lucas should just finish what he started then have his Director's Guild card revoked. Really the guy CAN'T direct -- or at least not in an interesting way. Although he did coax a kick butt performance out of Yoda last time.

OK, now this was her reply and when I look at this, I see that once again, she couldn't even answer my fucking question.. How is it that movies like this that are supposedly this bad, that are supposedly piles of dog crap to the fans when compared to the God almighty, can't do no wrong LOTR Trilogy or even the Old SW Trilogy, how is it that these set of movies make the amount of $$$ they do, even domestically, if there REALLY that bad?? How??? How is that possible??? If there that bad, wouldn't moviegoers say "Fuck this" "I'm not seeing this cause everyone says they suck??? In conclusion, I have decided to stay here at KJ and Movie-Fever but will only do so on an EXCLUSIVE occasion and make a Rare appearance every so often instead of bailing all together... I found that I was just surfing too many of these sites to the point where it started to alter my personality, alter my attitude, EVERYTHING about me and it's like a negative cloud that follows you everywhere you go and it's very unhealthy.. So this is what I decided would be the best course of action for me... On that note, let's hear some responses about this cause I'd love to know if what I'm implying is simply just me in general or is there a shred of truth to what I've pointed out.. Thank You..

Sincerely,
BKB_The_Man

BKB, glad that you have reconsidered! Welcome back mate! You post frequency may diminish somehwhat, but you are all the better for not giving up completely! Part of who you are will always remain in your threads and posts and that should be a comforting thought to say the least!
We will bend, but we won't break..as long as we remember who we are!

BKB, after what happened at BOM and your "conversation" with Susan over at USA Today, I would of never thought I'd see you post yet another conversation.

BTW, I'm planning on attending the May 12th Sith premiere for the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. I'm also toying with the idea of starting a line party in April to help raise money for Starlight.

In answer to your question on SW:

Fans fell in love witht eh origional trilogy. It became an almost escapist movement where people could get lost in this totally fictional world.

When fans hear there are more coming out they are thrilled, go crazy, and re attach themselves to this world. Then all of the sudden they get a movie, a movie they wernt expecting, its not perfect, its like seeing your dad get beat up at a young age. Your not ready for it.

The expectations for SW are ludicris, and anyone who can not go to a movie like attack of the clones and see it for what it is, a exciting romp but not some best picture contender ... is just ruining the experience for themselves. But these people feel so cheated so wronged by the fact that the movie wasnt exactly the way they wanted it, that they go and subconciously want other people to hate it too, and they talk about it in such a discriminitory way because of it.

SW movies are good movies, nothing wrong with them, fun to watch, and decent story. The acting in #2 was extremely poor, and that bothered me. If the acting had been better, then the movie could have been very good. Lucas is not a great director, never has been, but they are his movies, and if he wants to direct them than thats totally fine.

You have to like or hate a movie for what it is ... not for what it isnt. It is the end of a saga, and people dont like endings, they want the damn movies to be everythign they could ever want, and it cant possibly be that.

As for how all this has made you feel:

You have to be careful, it is a problem many have had including myself. Getting angry at posts and posters for things we disagree with. It is so hard sometimes to remind yourself that it doesnt really matter, and you can have differing opinions.

People are all different, and because of that we will have dissagreements. Some people are rude, some ignorant, and some just plain assholes.

You really have to put yourself in a place where you know you can have fun conversation and enjoy yourself. You also have to sometimes just let go of an argument, and that can be the hardest thing to do.

KJ

Does Susan know that George Lucas is not a member of the Director's Guild of America?

Ooops!

I have no idea why you guys listen to people (even like me) who try to challenge you on your tastes. A good critic can walk into an argument and discuss the merits of a film and its impact on society or the film world and it's relative artistic value... that's what a critic does... but a great critic will never confront you about your gut appreciation of a film. That's yours to keep, and anybody who tries to take that away from you is missing the point.

I also have no idea why you all are listening to a critic who writes for a newspaper which rose to fame on the idea that Americans have short attention spans and colors, pictures and pie charts are indeed the best way to sell newspapers to the undereducated.

Let me tell you why I think she didn't answer your question. She's elitist. Fuck, I'm elitist too sometimes, which is why I think I see it. These elitists doesn't really care what you think or what other people think. Like a preacher, these people feign discussion as a means to push an agenda.
