Post 1st Semi-Annual WoKJ Poster Awards.
Yes. It begins.

Over the next 4 days, we'll run over the categories and rules. Sadly, I have been informed that I have to attend a seminar in about an hour. So I can't provide you with all the information right away.

I want to cut ddown the number of categories. For now, stuff like biggest music, dvd and tv buffs arent neccassary.

Lecter will be co presenting (or prolly even taking over the lead on this) I will keep updating this first post. with all the relevant information.

Once Lecter is online, He will provide more details. What I can tell you now, we wont stretch this out for more than a month.

bABA out.

Post First Semi-Annual WOKJ Poster Awards
Soon the time will arrive and the first WOKJ Poster Awards are inevitable. We have had the tradition over at BOM and it shall be continued here. I have got some changes from the last awards we have had, but most of the stuff remains the same. One thing that has to be changed is the number of categories as it was quite big last time and a huge amount of categories doesn't particulary insipre people to vote in all of them.

Here are the categories that have been used last time:

Biggest Moviebuff

Best Box Office Predictor

Best Thread Creator

Best Writer Of Posts

Best Debator

Biggest Franchise Fanboy

Best Signature

Best Avatar

Best Screen name

Weirdest Poster

Funniest Poster

Nicest Poster

Most Credible Poster

Smartest Poster

Most Entertaining Poster

Biggest Video Game Buff

Biggest Music Buff

Biggest Oscar Buff

Biggest DVD Buff

Biggest Comic Book Buff

Biggest TV Buff

Most missed Poster

Best Newcomer

Best Overall Poster

Best Moderator

"Desert Island"-Award
(pick 3 males and 3 females you'd like to be on a desert island with)

I guess it is quite obvious that the number of categories shall be trimmed down. I still want to stay with 5 nominees per category, though (at least with most of them), so this way not too many people will be disappointed because they weren't even nominated.

ABOUT THE CATEGORIES:

What I need now is suggestions how we could change the categories. What do you want added, what do you think should go. Personally I strongly support the categories "Biggest TV Buff", "Biggest Comic Book Buff", "Biggest Music Buff", "Biggest Video Game Buff" and "Biggest Oscar Buff" to go, simply because the site is not big enough yet to have categories like these. I also am playing with the thought of cutting the "Best Newcomer" category as the site is very new and no one really here (or only very few) can be considered a newcomer. Furthermore, I was thinking about adding 1-2 new categories at most as it has always been a tradition to add at least one new category at each awards. Maybe you can help out with thinking of a new one. Also I expect to hear suggestions and opinions on what categories should go, as it is clear that they cannot all remain. I have made my suggestions and I am waiting for yours.

As for adding or modifying the awards, I thought of adding one of these: "Most Mysterious Poster" or "Best Foreign Poster" (anyone outside of the USA) as well as modifying "Best Debator" to "Best Political Debator".

ORGANIZATION:

The voting:

I want to keep the old voting system. That means that there will be 2 voting rounds. In the first voting round (The Nominees Voting) the voters will pick 3 posters they want to be nominated in each category. They send their picks to the two posters who will be counting the votes. Once the votes are counted we'll have the list of nominees. There will be 5 nominees in each category and maybe 3 nominees in a couple of smaller categories (like in the Desert Island Award). Then the second voting round (The Winners Voting) can start. In that one, the voters just have to pick their favorite in each category and send the ballot to the two posters who'll count the votes in that round and determine the winner in each category.
If you have any questions on that, feel free to post them :)

The schedule:

Nomination Voting Start:

November 15th

Nomination Voting End:

November 27th

Winners Voting Start:

November 29th

Winners Voting End:

December 9th

Awards Show:

December 11th or 12th

In other words, you basically have time until Sunday night to discuss the awards in this thread before I open the thread with the Categories and the first round can start.

Hosting the Ceremony:

I think that we need 2 hosts at most to host us through the whole show. Last time we had a presenter for each catgory, but that didn't work out very well since some of the people didn't show up. Moreover, I am convinced that the show is more fun and entertaining when specific people with great entertainment and hosting abilities lead us through the whole show. Yes, the hosts of the ceremony will probably also be nominated in some categories. It is inevitable since the ones who are really good at stuff like hosting are also the ones who are very well-known and well-liked here. Also, the hosts will write some of the speeches for the awards by themselves and have some others writing a couple of speeches too and sending them to the hosts. During the ceremony, however, only these two posters who are the hosts will present the speeches and the winners. Torrino and myself are not hosts (incase that is not clear by now), but organizers of the show. The hosts of the ceremony will be revealed later.

Vote Counters:

I have already appointed vote counters for both rounds of the awards. Here they are:

Nomination Round - SamweisGamdschie & BigMoviePimp

Winners Round - Jon Lyrik & Dr. Lecter

Don't worry, I'll remind you before the voting starts ;)

Surprises:

The last, but not least:

I have some surprises in store for you, such as a Honorary Award as well as a surprise appearance at the ceremony that I will try to arrange. I promise, we will do all that is in our power to keep you entertained and thrilled. :D

Now it is your turn to discuss the awards. :)

Let It Begin!

No worries, Arsi :)

As long as I can make the next thread with the categories

Anyway, these error messages are KILLING ME!!! I tried to edit my post above twice and it didn't work so far. Sometimes it really gets frustrating. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Lecter, Not to pick on you.

Wouldn't it make sense to just post it into a new thread if you can't edit the above one.

Are you advocating anarchy, rusty?

I'll be reasonable, here. Anarcho-pacifism is a good idea, but like socialism, the chances of it working are dubious.

Well, see, in the city, there's a thing called TECHNOLOGY. There's also another factor, which would be, an increase on the amount of drugs avaible. Thus, more steroids.

In the city, we don't all use beer cans, rake 'em up, and put them on a stick to form a barbel. We use steroids. Or a gym. So, naturally, being a city kid, I'll be able to beat you out with moi strongER legs.

Well I must admit, that I too am actually from the city, however being "country" is in my roots, you know being the fact that I am from Kentucky and everything. See we have something you idiot ass city boys don't...its called class. We dont shoot people over frivolous things, nor do we sell drugs on every corner, trying to make a profit so we can feed our own drug habit.
Now if you think you and your druged upcity boys can take on me and my country crew, consisting of my inbred family, along with our coon dawgs...then be my guest....Name the time and the place
although you have an unfair advanatge, bc well, we cant speak that well, we have no education and we dont wear shoes....so we should get bouns points before the fight even starts

Fine, we'll give you some bonus points.

Suburban kids, however, are smarter than country folks and city folks. We're wealthy, we're superior, we've got country smarts and city smarts. Face it.

We don't shoot people over frivolous things, and we don't hang around people who sell drugs on every corner. If we want them, we'll get them. It's the knowledge that counts.

Just remember one thing. At least cities are blue. Kentucky is red. With that said, I'm not only Proud to be an American, but also, I'm Proud to live in a BLUE STATE!

We need to stop. We have SO hijacked this thread.
Besides, I am really a "city boy" anyways

Doesn't matter. We're mods, we can do whatever the hell we want. And change/hijack the thread/topic if we feel like it. On another note, I'm gonna challenge you to a freestylin' contest (well, via the internet and on the boards, hehe). We'll see who has the better insults...

Okay.

I have the vote counters and such appointed. I was hoping for you to be one of the hosts of the ceremony, but since bABA is stepping down, I guess maybe he can be one of the hosts then. Since I have most of the stuff already written and organized, I will basically need help from your with advertising the awards as well as with finding good pictures and images for the awards (for advertising etc.). I'm not all too good at that.

No, No, I didnt get served by wanting to get back on topic. Perhaps your shitty city schools havn't taught you much about manners, but usually respect is a good thing. Now respect where your from, may be not ratting out a fellow gang member who has shot and molested your mother, but where I am from respect means respecting your fellow man...in a normal sense. But of course I dont expect somone with no manners to understand something like that.

Manners? Dude, we're on top of the world!

Doesn't matter. This is a place to relax, not get all tense and stay on topic! Just do what you want, as long as you follow the rules! ;)
