The Server Change Officially started at 12:10pm Friday Afternoon.

I finally got everything working perfect on the new board.

This is how it will work.

Sometime tomorrow around 12pm (Saturday) you will attempt to come to the site (http://www.worldofkj.com/forum) and you will get a message saying 'This board is currently unavailable'.

This is for a few reasons.

The board currently exists on the new server, it is uptodate as of 11am Friday morning. I now have it locked, so that noone can post there. When the server change is complete, you will be routed to the locked board which only has the posts from the first post till 11am on friday.

The board will likly be locked for about an hour.

Durring this hour I will be backing up, and restoring the database on the OLD board. I will then upload that to the new board. Every single post should be kept. Nothing will be lost.

I am unsure however on PM's. I can not say for sure if they will be saved, so if you are worried or have important info in your PM box. Make sure to take proper precautions.

One Final Note.

All Avatars will be lost. So please write down the link so you don't have trouble finding them again. Sig's should be OK but any image sig's could also be lost, so make sure you know the link to them as well.

With any luck, the server downtime will be kept to a minimal.

I will try my best, I am just happy that this long road is finally over.

On the new server we should all see much improved performance, quicker load times, and no more errors. Or so I hope.

Ok,

Some people are already on the new site/server.

This is because the routers that there Internet provider uses has already updated the DNS and is forwarding them to the NEW IP on the new server.

Eventually this will happen to all of us. When it happens to me I will be shutting down this servers MB, backing it up, and opening up the board to the new server.

IF your Internet provider is slow, and their routers not updated, you may be stuck at the old board for a little while. It should at the max take 48 hours. My Internet provider has not yet updated, when they do, that is when I will lock this board and open the new one.

This may go over the head of many of you, basically if you get a 'Sorry this board is not available' then you have to wait for your Host to update their DNS. When they do you will find the MB.

The web adress will remain the same http://www.worldofkj.com/forum.

Everyone reading this now is on the old server still.

Some people however are already on the new server ... and because of it get the "sorry this message board is not avialable" message .

As soon my web host switches over, I will open the forum.

So I'm still on the old board? What time will be save to post again? I couldn't get on in the afternoon, but everything looks OK right now.

I couldn't post all morning. But, I was able to get on now. The posting and loading times still seem about the same (kinda slow).

So, right now, am I on the old board or the new board?

OK, I thought that the new server was supposed to make the site faster? Its been slower, loading weird....and doin a whole bunch of weird stuff :?

Yes, the forums are slower. Even slower than before. I was on the new site yesterday, because it said the board was unavailable. Is this the new one? ANSWER, Eagle.

I am only human and only one man. I have devoted disgusting ammounts of time to moving servers.

We are now on the NEW server. All the posts have been backed up as far as I can tell, and that was hard to do.

I am sorry if the board is still slow, it shouldn't be. We are now on a brand new server, where we are no longer sharing bandwidth with other sites. It is essentially for now, our own private server. Any speed issues either have to do with your computers, your internet settings, or the phpbb boards themselves.

The forum is not lightning fast, that much is true, however I have not noticed serious issues with the speed, and my computer sux. Because of this I am not really sure how to approach the issue.

As for the other error's, I am hoping they dissapear on the new server. If they don't I will investigate further why they are occuring. They seem to be timeout issues that I had associated with the old server and the fact that we were hogging so much of the servers bandwidth. Hopefully that is illeviated.
