My very own all-original best political debator speech:
What's the point in (political) debating (or berating) anything?
‘Mark Rutherford‘ was the pseudonym of William Hale White (1831-1913). Rutherford is generally classed as a minor Victorian novelist, but there is much more to Hale White than this. Despite working for over thirty years as a civil servant, he wrote over a thousand newspaper articles, translated works by Spinoza, and wrote various works of literary criticism. There is much to learn from a life well led.
He is also credited with the following observation:
"There is always a multitude of reasons both in favor of doing a thing and against doing it. The art of (political, for our purposes) debate lies in presenting them; the art of life lies in neglecting ninety-nine hundredths of them."
Here's to the elusive hundreth.
And the nominees are:
Archie Gates dolcevita Krem Mike Ventrella wertham
THAT WAS FOR NON-POLITICAL, YOU FOOL!

It was wertham's speech for Best Non-Political Debator, though. He couldn't have done Political Debator as he was nominated...*sigh*.
