Congrats to Broncos and Manning. Didn't some pats fan say that Panthers would crush the broncos

Re: 2015-2016 NFL Discussion Thread
Awful game, but it played out the right way. Denver's defense might be the best since...?
And the game annoyed me as a Pats fan. Not because Peyton won (congrats!), but because the Denver game was so winnable, the Panthers turned out to be so beatable (though admittedly they probably would've had slightly more success against the Pats D, but not by an overwhelming amount), and because they tanked those last two regular season games. That was clearly worth it.
Edit: Fixed. Thanks Excel.

And why the hell didn't Carolina or New England ever run a no-huddle?

Carolina dominated that game, but they couldn't muster a consistent run game and for some reason kept turning the ball over.

Nah, Ginn dropping that pass and Tolbert fumbling were not something Carolina normally does. Denver obviously gets credit for the 2 strip sacks.

Re: 2015-2016 NFL Discussion Thread
Denver Defense dominated the game. That's what won it. Carolina wasn't creative enough, then again they didn't have a lot to be creative with in the passing game. Wish Cam sought Olsen more often, though Denver was weak against TE. Then again they probably protected that route extra. Ginn dropping that pass?! That could not have come as a surprise, he isn't one of the more sure handed receivers in the game. Tolbert fumble unlucky but could happen too. Against this Denver defense you simply have to play mistake free, and you need a killer offense line. Carolina's good, but not good enough. It all came down to Newton's shoulders and that was simply too much too ask. At least if they didn't make the silly mistakes (punt return, 100yds of penalties, and others) the game would have been close enough they could come on top. And in that case you force Manning to through to come back, that probably wouldn't have ended well. Now Denver did what it had to do, and Panthers weren't able to be at their best. And this pretty much sums up what happened: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/cam-newton-never-had-a-chance/

I didn't mean Ginn dropping the pass doesn't normally happen. I meant that him dropping the pass and it being intercepted was not normal.

When Stafford was on, Calvin was on. I do not think he was overrated. He was the best receiver in the game who had a mediocre offense to try to help him succeed. Kitna, Culpepper, Orlovsky, Hill, Stafford... these guys would make Moss, Owens, etc. look just as good (or disappointing) as Calvin. A WR can only do so much without a quality QB under center. Imagine Calvin catching passes from Brady or Rodgers. Then there would be no argument at all about overrated. I'll miss him out there but I understand his decision. What? Culpepper was Randy Moss's quarterback, and promptly did nothing when Moss left. Randall Cunningham had been out of the league 3 seasons before Moss caught 1,300 and 17 TD's. Matt Stafford is a superior QB to anybody not named Tom Brady that prime Randy Moss played with. Calvin is great, don't even compare him to Moss. Calvin scored 5 TD on 205 targets in all 2012. Moss scored 4 TD in the first half vs. Buffalo in 2007. I've followed the game a while - Randy Moss it the best offensive weapon ever. Calvin is a fringe top 10 all time receiver. He is great, but the hyperbole around him went way overboard.

Prime Moss and prime Owens are top two offensive weapons talents ever. There are no bigger difference makers at the WR/RB/TE positions than these two. Moss was the leading scorer on two different teams which broke the offensive scoring record. That's truly insane.

Nah, Calvin is a better all around WR than TO. You using his TD un-luck against him is silly.

No, I am not. T.O. had plenty of "un-luck" too - everybody does. Randy Moss could have scored well over 30 touchdowns in 2007 if "luck" had all gone his way. Calvin cannot do this. This is against Champ Bailey: He sure as hell could not do any of this stuff Calvin was good but Moss and Owens are the two best QB toys I have ever seen.

Calvin can't break a tackle? I'm fairly certain he could break a tackle. Desean Jackson could've scored on that.

His agility came at the expense of his size and strength. Owens was just as strong but was so much more agile and quick - a much better all around athlete.

Re: 2015-2016 NFL Discussion Thread
I definitely wouldn't put Johnson in the TO/ Moss bracket. Johnson has been great because of his athleticism, pretty unique, but he lacked skills the best in the game had.
