Re: August 11-13 Predictions
Probably sub-10m for Demeter. But yeah probably another good weekend for Barbenheimer.

Re: August 11-13 Predictions
Does this count as an Antz/Deep Impact/Tombstone situation or are Demeter and Reinfeld different enough to avoid it?
They also did this exact story on the Netflix Dracula miniseries.
I'd say bombs away. People can see Talk To Me for smart horror and The Meg for stupid horror. Can't imagine Demeter catching on. But I've been wrong about almost everything else this summer so maybe it will hit $100M opening weekend?

I mean, it looks like a flop. I reckon sub-$10m all day long.

Poor title for Last Voyage. There had to be a better way to describe Dracula's on a boat.

Re: August 11-13 Predictions
I just read that Demeter has been in development for 20+ years. $45M budget and has been in the works for so long. Would feel really bad to see it flop but should have been 1/2 the budget. Maybe it will capture an audience eventually but 20+ years. Also, Universal, what were you thinking releasing two Dracula movies within 5 months of each other (both of which aren't in the fall)? Dracula can't catch a break this year and seems to have no bite.

Re: August 11-13 Predictions
I wonder how much Red White and Royal Blue could have made this weekend. Talk about an underserved audience... Though obviously it does have a very limited appeal.

I think it would've done rather well tbh. The book is popular and its kind of killing it on tiktok. Pretty dumb to not give it a thearical release like Air.

Taking the 2nd derivative of TDK vs Barbie (how fast it is outpacing or not outpacing the other) has been the right method for 3 weeks in a row. Of course the actuals might prove me wrong. Lol

Pretty dumb to not give it a theatrical release like Air. Agree. Would have likely done better than Love, Simon. Maybe not significantly more, but $50 million wouldn't have been very difficult, IMO. The book was pretty quick to find success with 100,000+ copies sold in just a few months, which is good for any book, but it's very strong for a debut novel. And it's been, as you said, huge on TikTok for years now. It's been charting well for 4 years (the copy I picked up last year was the 21st printing). This has a lot more potential than Bros last year.

Re: August 11-13 Predictions
Yeah I guess it has a much bigger concept than any similiar movies thus far released in theaters. America obviously still has a fondness for British royalty, and this would be especially topical with the whole real-life drama of Harry self-exiling because of a taboo romance. Having a romcom with a prince and first son could've have broken through to young girls who were looking for another night out and didn't want to see Barbie for the eighth time. Air's $52M would be a very reasonable and achievable goal.
Once again, streaming has robbed us of a potentially interesting box office run.

Re: August 11-13 Predictions
I feel like Red, White and Royal Blue could have done 70+. I think it would have beat Air at least. So stupid it didn't get a theatrical release. Reviews are good too.
