I’m still baffled as to why the 2019 one didn’t do better (at least OW).

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
Illumination is going to do it.
The live action remake in 25-30 years is gonna be great though!

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
This needed to be live action.
Animated will go sub $250m. It’s not Mario.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
From r/boxoffice Quote: "Alright, so here's our pitch for the trailer, Mr. Miyamoto"
[Rolling skyshot of Hyrule Field moving toward Hyrule Castle with a big bombastic score of the LoZ theme song.
Cut to silence inside of Princess Zelda's bedroom with the iconic princess snoring in bed.
Her alarm goes off, and we start to hear Lizzo's "Good as Hell" as Zelda jumps out of bed and begins a dress montage pulling out various outfits from the past games.
We hear an explosion in the distance as the song cuts off, followed by screaming as Link comes flying in through her window and breaks a triforce statue.
Zelda (voiced by Zendaya) screams, "LINK!!!" with her hands on her hips and looks very perturbed!
Link sits up looking at Zelda, and we hear the Hero of Time (voiced by Harry Styles) in an over the top sarcastic tone say.
"Well, EXCUUUUUUSE me, Princess!!!"
Cut back to Lizzo's "Good as Hell" as we reveal Illumination and Nintendo Presents THE LEGEND OF ZELDA] I think they nailed it.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
I've never watched the cartoon, but that montage is pretty funny and I can see it is quite iconic in the right circles. I feel like I've uncovered an in-joke.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
This could have been something special, but I am sure the internet with its recent live affair with illuminations will rally behind it in the name of anti-woke dribble and and anyone who criticizes it will be out of touch.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
They cant make this into a comedy, it can have funny moments but it has to be a straight up fantasy film. Has illumination ever made something more serious? Pixar would have been great for this 10 years ago.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
I still think Studio Ghibli would work best here. But I could live with Dreamworks who have shown they can do fantasy well and after Ouss and Boots, I think they are more than capable.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
Anyone noticed the bizarre home video release for Super Maro Bros.?
It released last Tuesday (June 6th) everywhere, but Universal and news outlets have been advertising it releasing on June 13th (today/tomorrow) all week.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
Yeah, I've seen it at every store I've been to since last Tuesday, and it's been available to purchase everywhere online since last Tuesday too. I even saw it at a Redbox.

Having the Your Name / Suzume team do it would definitely be ideal. I'd also like dreamworks with their fresh new animation style. However, it will make the most money as a comedy for kids from Illumination so that's what will happen. God help them if Zelda dresses up as Shiek at any point in the movie though. The protest lead by Kid Rock will take dozens of dollars out of the gross. Dozens!!

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
Studio Ghibli would indeed be by far the best choice but it'll never happen so instead we'll get a Shrek'd Illumination mediocrity that only appeals to 12 year olds.

Re: Predict the Legend of Zelda adaptation
After now seeing the Mario Movie, I even moreso dread an Illuminations Zelda. I think maybe Wind Waker, but even then, I don’t think Illuminations is capable to doing something serious so they do Zelda as a comedy.

Serious CG animated movies don't have a good track record.
