Well I was sort of wrong. Reviews aren't terrible but they are mixed. Not enough that it would make a difference though. It still should have been much wider. Honestly seems like the most crowd-pleasing of the trilogy.

Yeah, so that's not a high bar for a film that if in 3,000 theatres was expected to do $20 million or more.

Not with Super Bowl on Sunday to deflate things.

It's in 1,600 theatres, btw.
Titanic is in 2,464.

Horrible walkups today for Magic Mike. Thinking 800-850K previews. not feeling a double digit based on walkups seen today.

Does 80 For Brady have a chance of being #1?!
$8.9M would be a 30% drop. Feel like it will hold better than Cabin.
Also I don't think previews are that bad yet for Mike. I read on Boxoffice.com that tracking, social buzz, and pre-sale observations indicate some backloading for Last Dance as people will see it as a girls night / Valentines Day event.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions
Magic Mike didn't do much here on Thursday night but Friday night is full for a decent number of shows. They had already sold quite a few tickets for tonight earlier in the week. Same for Titanic though. That's doing great tonight.

I hope Titanic does well. It needs to find a wider audience and would be such a shame as I heard Cameron spent $200M+ on it and feel it could be a great movie to help Winslet and DiCaprio's careers.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions
That’s not a great hold for either of last weeks openers. Considering Sunday is the Super Bowl even 80 For Brady will probably drop 50% unless it surges HUGE today

Re: February 10-12 Predictions
Yeah, -60% for Brady and -69% for Knock.
But there's good news! -29% for Avatar and -24% for Puss.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions
Magic Mike was #1 on Friday with 4.3m. Seems like it should win the weekend even if Titanic has a better multiple.
Hopefully good enough that it can get a real wide release next weekend.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions
That's a super strange number for 80 For Brady. It had a $2.54M Tuesday and a $1.9M Friday. Looks like its mostly going to play as a mid week film.
M3Gan held well enough that $100M might still be in play but will be close.

Messy if WB doesn't release #s.
So weird to see Avatar and Titanic in the top 5

I don't know why drops for Puss have been so shitty lately. Maybe it will increase next weekend though with the holiday.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions/weekend numbers
Its Friday and Saturday drops were in the 20s though, that's not shitty
No films geared directly towards family till Super Mario (or maybe Shazam kinda?) so it'll continue to play, wonder how far it'll go.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions/weekend numbers
I thought last weekend's 25% was disappointing too visiting there were no new kids movies. Unless you count The Amazing Maurice but that didn't do much business.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions/weekend numbers
Boots' 30.2% drop only seems disappointing considering how well it was holding. It's the worst drop of the run but still project it for about $185M which is still a ridiculous gross from a $12M OW.
The Avatar vs Titanic in the top 5 is very cool. As close to a box office multi-verse as we'll get.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions/weekend numbers
Valentine's Day #'s saw big spikes so thought they were worth posting.
1 Magic Mike’s Last Dance $1,931,127 +137% $11,051,293 2 Avatar: The Way of Water $1,799,278 +161% +86% $649,743,145 3 Titanic (25th Anniversary) $1,687,814 +140% $668,469,377 4 80 for Brady $1,664,918 +115% -34% $27,208,581 5 Knock at the Cabin $1,587,460 +181% +14% $25,524,085 6 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish $1,132,820 +169% +99% $160,129,695 7 A Man Called Otto $841,613 +182% +34% $58,522,410 8 Missing $774,487 +227% +112% $27,589,411 9 M3GAN $625,995 +196% +118% $91,806,980 10 Plane $372,021 +172% +48% $31,297,898
Puss In Boots is just $39.9M away from $200M. Looks like its just going to miss it but could see a solid long weekend.
Avatar just under $650M. Despite Ant Man the long weekend and Valentine's Day can help push it higher up the ranks.
M3Gan is so awfully close to $100M. Still not certain but Valentine's Day and the long weekend should help.

Re: February 10-12 Predictions/weekend numbers
I contributed to Titanic. I saw that and She Came From The Woods on Tuesday.
What they need to do with M3GAN is give it a re-release with the R-Rated version that's supposed to be releasing on Blu-ray.
