Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
Suck it haters!
I did wonder it they'd wait five years to line up with the book, but this probably works better. I'll give it like $60M / $150Mish . Hard to say what box office will look like by then.

I think it can do better. I think Part One does 60m sans Max. I think the second can increase from that to 75-80m and 230-250m total.

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
Should see a decent bump.
-The reception has been heavily positive. Maybe not overwhelmingly so, but pretty close to it. -Book sales are very impressive. Could result in more moviegoers moving forward. -Everyone involved seems very passionate about the material and film production, so we know that lack-of-effort will be a non-issue again.
The only real unknown is how the state of the box-office will look, and how theatrical releases will be handled in two-years (streaming, theatrical windows, etc.).

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
The footage they will have for Part 2 will be way more exciting and epic, crazy stuff happens in the second half of the book, massive battles, lots of exciting new characters including a Harkonnen counterpart to Paul.
I think it can clear $60m OW with ease, maybe even $70m+.

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
Good to hear but this isn't surprising. I'll wait for marketing and trailers to do more but with even more depth than right now in 2 years it will be interesting to see how it does domestically. OS numbers will be much bigger by then.

Lovely. This is the LOTR of the 2020s.

I am a fan of big budget high quality "original" content so I am in, but it better be more exciting than part 1.

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
Indeed I think Dune could be a good franchise overall if they keep making good movies but I highly doubt its impact will ever come close to LOTR, Harry Potter, Hunger Games and while not critical hits these movies do not seem to have the cultural impact of Twilight as well (I am going to use j_forest23's example and say bite me!)

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
Yes Dune is no LOTR or any of the above in regards to cultural impact.
That said - the second one should be sizeably bigger at the BO. A total over $250m is likely and over 300m would not surprise.

Dune is running 3m ahead of the pace of Godzilla vs Kong. 100m will be a crawl if it gets there.

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
I think this needs multiple views and more you get into the Duneverse the better it gets. I am thinking 2nd movie being purely theatrical has much bigger potential. For now will say 80/250m for Dune 2.

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
The "strong" legs speak for themselves. Regardless of this I don't think many people watched this and it didn't have big enough cultural impact for sequel to improve that big. I feel 2nd will increase because of release strategy but won't reach more than $150m total.

If you look at explosion of Dune content on youtube and viewer metrics, there is lots of curiosity surrounding it. Next one will be lot bigger.

Nah I'm not and YouTube content views have time and again not translated to BO.

Dune Part 1 is gonna be at least as profitable as Eternals and Shang Chi lol. A sequel makes sense especially if they can get the budget down

Dune cost the same as Shang Chi and will gross almost as much.

Re: Dune Part 2 predictions
Legs have been better than I would have guessed and it definitely clicked with the online artsy crowd. If things are truly normal in 2023, could easily see $700-800m.
