Nominations were announced today.
Game of the Year:
Control (Remedy)
Death Stranding (Kojima)
The Outer Worlds (Obsidian)
Resident Evil 2 (Capcom)
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (FromSoftware)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Nintendo/Bandai Namco)
Seems like they wanted to give more recognition to original games after 5/6 of last year's entries were franchises. I respect that, but Fire Emblem: Three Houses wasn't the one to leave out.
Hard to guess who will win out of these. God of War pulled a big upset over Red Dead Redemption 2 last year. Right now I'd bet on Sekiro, as that has the same type of action gameplay (though much harder) and a similar story about using your power to protect an innocent.
