Apparently there is a line on the registration form where you have to email kjtoocool@gmail and wait for a response but I had a person try to register and they never got anything. Is there some auto response that's supposed to be emailed back from that address?

Who is actually running the kjtocool gmail account? Eagle transferred ownership in April 2017, we got some registrations in May 2017, then one in July, then the faucet turned off completely until this week. Is it possible that's not a coincidence and the inactive account since he left is responsible for the lack of registrations? If we can't just put in a captcha I would be willing to take it over the registration email if possible. We would ideally have a half day delay at most, if people are trying to register for the site and then get an email back 5 days later they may lose interest. It's also not ideal that the address is kjtocool instead of kjtoocool, presumably because the latter was already taken. I am sure that like nghtvsn in this thread someone has sent emails to kjtoocool instead and gotten no response.

Eagle emailed me saying his email is active, but he doesn't respond to the registrations anymore



I don't really blame Eagle for this, we're not his responsibility anymore. But no wonder we don't get any new members anymore. I PM'd Dr Lecter and offered to run the registration email, hopefully we can switch that email address and see if this train can get off the tracks.

Actually it may be even better if all they had to do was answer how many letters are in worldofkj, or do a math question or something. It seems like this is the most common way to avoid spambots on these sites, and we may lose less members when we don't annoy them by making them send an email and waiting for a response

Hopefully that is corrected within the next month. It still has the email verification answer currently.

I think the system is still the same, but it's not Eagle who needs to be emailed anymore to verify your account.

So it's still a backwards system from the 1990s. This is the only place I've seen a system like this, especially in 2018. We might be the only site on the Internet to use it.

I mean, the only way to change the process would be to completely overhaul the site, which is not going to happen (at this time or in the near future).

It's about the long game, if we get one regular as active as stuffp or zwackerm by the end of the year it makes a difference.

Right now we have a pretty steady stream of views on the WOKJ feed's tweets, and a small % of those people who see a tweet are visiting the profile. A small % of those who visit the profile click on one of the links to visits WOKJ, and likely a small % of those people decide to register. A small % of people registering will then become active members. Every step takes a big chunk off the opening number but if we get enough views, the math should add up to an active member.

Don't any of you have friends in the real world with an interest in film that would sign up? It improves the chances of becoming an active member a hell of a lot more when they're your friend first, like stuffp.

The only person I know who is interested in this stuff is already a member, and he stopped posting a while ago.
