Quote:
Oblivion is an upcoming 2013 science fiction film co-written, produced and directed by Joseph Kosinski and based on his graphic novel of the same name edited by Radical Comics. It stars Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo, Zoë Bell, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. According to Kosinski, Oblivion pays homage to science fiction films of the 1970s.

Post Re: Oblivion
I really liked the movie. It's very entertaining and fast paced. I don't expect it to get much love here though. It's visuals (there is A LOT of breathtaking imagery) and score are just epic. It's weak point is the story, which was a bit of a letdown. Typical science-fiction stuff, no big surprises on that front. Cruise is solid as always and I thought Olga was quite good too. Freeman and Jaime Lennister were wasted. I'm planning on checking it out again when it opens here. My mind needed some time to fully concentrate on the film. It's definately worth a trip to the theater.

This is one of the most visually pleasing movies I've ever seen. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It's a simple, visually gorgeous, entertaining film.

Do you think it's better than Tron Legacy?

No, but Riggs saw it at a premiere and I saw it at a press screening.

Unfortunately?

That means you hated it. People would be more eager to tell of their hatred than their joy.

What do you want to know? Basically Riggs said it all. It's gorgeous to look at (thus, if possible, it should be an obligatory IMAX-viewing), the score is epic, the plot is so-so, but entertaining from start to finish.

B+

And no, it is about on par or slightly worse than Jack Reacher, so for not many years ;)

The visuals and cinematography are great but unfortunately thats about it as the film is slow and drags. The plot for the most part is uninteresting. I did like Cruise here but even he or the stunning Andrea Riseborough couldn't save it.

The score while often resounding is generally overblown. The acting is fine but clock this one as a disappointment for me.
