Drama

Succession or Severance (prediction: Severance)

Comedy

Ted Lasso, Abbott Elementary or Hacks (prediction: Ted Lasso)

A lot of people have won before in the acting categories so instead of just boring route of Smart, Sudeikis, Zendaya and Strong and so they could do something weird like give it to Lynskey or Brunson.

I haven't processed all the noms and snubs, but I'm super happy for Zendaya, Martha Kelly and Sydney Sweeney for Euphoria. Zendaya not winning would be a travesty.

It does get a little exhausting to see so many series with multiple acting nods in categories. I feel like Ted Lasso, The White Lotus and Succession make up half of all acting nominees.

For Stranger Things are they only counting the first seven episodes?

My picks:

Drama - Squid Game
Comedy - Barry
Animation - Rick and Morty
Miniseries - Hawkeye (even though its not nominated)

Still need to watch Severance, Arcane and Abbot Elementary but I doubt it'll change much since the ones I picked are so strong.

But the actual winners, based on Emmys history, will probably be Succession and Ted Lasso again.

Yes, Stranger Things part 2 and Better Call Saul second half of its season will be eligible again next year

Scratch that for Stranger Things

A lot of open spots next year in Best Drama with no Ozark, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Euphoria, and I think Severance possibly won’t make the cutoff

This forum has to be one of the most anti Better Call Saul ones out there, there doesn't seem to be a single watcher here (maybe Mister Ecks?), it seems like every other one I visit is full of fans. Personally I never got into it.

The worst win of the night has to be Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent. He is just the absolute worst actor ever. And this guy is playing Hercules, LOL.

Yup. Emmys love to award the same thing over and over.

Too many repeats. Garner’s is especially annoying with some fun choices available like Ricci and Arquette.

Probably Succession or the Crown again unless the Last of Us delivers

I love Saul, I have only five episodes left to catch up on but if it keeps up, it's going to stand alongside Breaking Bad for me. It's beyond frustrating to see this show likely end up with zero Emmys. I'm going to guess there's a chance it's shut out completely next year. They aren't going to suddenly reward it next year to make up for the whole run, like Return of the King sweeping for the whole trilogy at the Oscars 2004.

Zendaya killed it for that episode of Euphoria, so I'm glad she got a repeat win. I was pulling for Seehorn in supporting, but would have been happy with Sweeney or Ho-yeon taking it. But of course gotta have that three-peat.

The Emmys are so exhausting. I lost so much interest and decided to watch what I could this year, pulling for Saul, Squid Game, Abbott Elementary and Euphoria. I remembered immediately why I hate them. And that's with three of those four shows taking some wins. They love their big, well-acted ensembles. Succession, Ted Lasso, The White Lotus. I'm sure all three are good, but it feels reminiscent of those years where it was always The West Wing, Mad Men, 30 Rock, etc etc etc.

I also wish we could go back to no hosts for anything.

Post subject:  Re: Emmy Nominations 2022

I was happy with some of the winners this year, but overall I really just don't like the Emmy's. They focus much more on what is "popular" than any other awards. And they get stuck rewarding the same shows over and over. (also while Abbott is great, it's just a step above a standard basic cable comedy) (although big bang theory garnered 55!!! nominations over its run... so...)

I guess at least the Emmy's are better than the golden globes, which should be abolished.
