Definitely not as strong on paper as their last 6-7 months and will need some new hits. Apparently they gave a huge budget to the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's the Sandman so that could also be an important release to them |

Hopefully Sandman is a hit. One of best comic series, but it doesn't become truly great until midway through it (Seasons of Mist) so Netflix is gonna need some patience which they haven't exactly been known for lately. |

A few people I trust the opinion of (or at least often share) have said a lot of good things about The Sandman. When I sign up again (probably with Dragon Prince S4 this winter), I'm going to have a treasure trove of content to watch for the month. |

Gaiman has stressed to fans recently that just because it's topping the charts, doesn't mean a second season (or more) is guaranteed due to the cost for Netflix to hand out again. Gaiman is also pretty candid with answering questions, and he's said that if Netflix would drop it, they have the option to continue it on other streaming platforms (HBO, Apple, Prime, etc.). Seems a significant announcement since he's said that if Good Omens would get dropped by Prime in the future, it wouldn't be picked up anywhere else (assuming due to contract agreements or something). Also love that many of the sets on Sandman are REAL and not green screen. I've said this a couple times on the forum, but a lot of movies and shows lately are clearly overusing the CGI/green screen, and it's become super obvious to the point of being distracting. Visual effects are somehow regressing, I feel. Loved the first 4 episodes. So glad they went with lines from the comic versus making their own for various scenes, too. |

Resident Evil cancelled Not a big surprise, it had similar performance on my chart to shows that got cancelled like Raising Dion and Archive 81, while being expensive and having bad reviews |

Although since my scoring includes previous seasons it was at a disadvantage compared to shows like The Witcher and Bridgerton who's season 1s added to their total, the Witcher Season 2 in isolation and Sandman Season 1 are relatively close, while Bridgerton's season 2 was ahead of both. I guess when there's only one season people might rewatch that season instead of the old ones though. I went back and look at Squid Game which is the biggest first season show since Netflix top 10 started in early 2021 and it would have had 88 points. Lincoln Lawyer is the next best after Sandman at 39, and All Of Us Are Dead at 33. This also shows how big Inventing Anna performance was with only one season on the chart and 75 pts, 85% of Squid Game's. |
