Post Are we getting a fall season?
Feels like I don't see any news of productions resuming and they usually do by now, I believe. I know with COVID, precautions have to be taken, and I know it's more difficult with movies, but I thought Hollywood would have some guidelines in place now to get everything up and running, or at least in the planning stages.

Netflix has said they have enough content already shot to last the rest of the year.

Networks aren't known for thinking ahead though. Too busy trying to replicate things that have worked in the past. Since there were no networks the last time we faced a pandemic like this, they'll have nothing to copy and therefore will do nothing.

Other than Netflix I'm not sure if we will see much content. The rest of streaming sites were just about to kick off.

This pandemic will help Netflix very much to gain over competition.

The Fall season isn’t what it used to be. For better or worse shows are debuting on strangers and cable all year round. So while this fall will be different, it won’t be as shocking compared to if this happened 15 years ago.

Could they do a show like Modern Family with just the confessionals, shot on their phones? That is probably the smartest way forward for now. Incorporate real life events into your story.

California is shut down so I’m not sure what they’re supposed to do.

I certainly understand why but I'm still shocked that the Hollywood machine hasn't tried to move forward on new workplace procedures. I know there are dozens, if not hundreds, of people on a set at any given time (not even factoring in "studio audience" sitcoms, though I imagine ones that actually film in front of an audience will go with canned laughter). If anything, this may be a bigger nail in the coffin of network television.

The various "celebs record themselves at home" shows have been awful.

I feel like the This Is Us finale aired a million years ago even though ending in March and premiering in late October isn't THAT unusual a time gap for TV. On COVID time.
