Backlash be damned. The season premiere "Bringing Up Baby" was heartfelt and hilarious, as all the best episodes of this show are.

It was fantastic, with the exception of Manny. That kid is dragging down the show.

Premiere was fairly solid, though Lily still cannot act.

Julie Bowen was a highlight as usual.

Alex: "This is a hangover cure?"
Claire: "...no."

Aw, Lily's cute. Don't be hatin'.

Modern Family is bringing it back this season. Both episodes last night were great, especially "Schooled."

Phil grabbing the butt of what turned out to be Haley's roommate...hilarious. I totally could have seen my own dad doing something mortifying like that too.

They nailed it when Haley called them on their way home. Good stuff.

They should really get Sarcastic Slow Clap Goth Girl for every episode of this show.

This season has been great so far. I've been very impressed with the past three episodes.

Loved "Yard Sale." Phil's reenactment of 127 Hours ("I said no tomatoes!") and the moment with the dramatic organ music when Gloria was presented with the dummy were great.

I appreciate the realism of Haley only appearing via Skype but I do miss her character's presence a bit.

I'd argue that this is the best season since the first. Every episode has been hilarious.

Great episode last night. Haley getting kicked out of school felt like a bit of a lazy plot development but I didn't really mind. The whole Dunphy family will be in every episode now, as it should be. Also, Phil getting all tough parent for a bit was a great moment.

Golden dialogue from last night:

Haley: "In Legally Blonde, Elle won her case by being true to herself and dressing cute."
Phil: "This is real life, not an excellent movie."

Lily (about an IV): "What's this?"
Luke: "I don't know, but thanks to Obama, you're paying for it."

Hilarious.

Last night's episode was another great one. Phil and Matthew Broderick were so awkward and hilarious.

The episode was just OK, although I did love the awkwardness of the Phil/Matthew Broderick confusion.

Also, Mitchell doing the Grandpa Simpson walk in walk out was hilarious!

On the other hand, Gloria being an obnoxious loudmouth...haven't we done that plot a gazillion times this season? Find something else for her to do.

This season has easily been the weakest in the series. However, last Wednesday's episode was well-written especially the Claire vs. Phil vs. Mitchell vs. Cameron plot.

I loved Phil and Claire getting trapped with the nudists.

Claire describing how they haven't sex in a while was HILARIOUS.

The homage to The Godfather at the end was incredible. The rest of the episode was fine but that bit totally made it.

I agree, that scene was hilarious.

My main complaint about Modern Family now is Mitch and Cam. Their storylines are just getting repetitive and the characters don't even seem to like each other very much, let alone be a long-term couple with a child.

But when this show is on, it's ON. Like the Godfather bit last night? Slayed. That was one of the best moments this show has ever had. Thank god for the Dunphys.

Mitch and Cam are annoying and easily my least favorite characters. If it wasn't for the usual comedy gold from the Dunphys and Jay/Gloria I'd have lost interest.
