Post Chernobyl HBO miniseries
I have been anticipating this one and the first part did not dissapoint, as gripping as it can get. Just knowing all these people are dead without them knowing it makes it even more unsettling, to think this actually happened.
And of course it angers, the amount of arrogance and denial by the russian powers that be, a whole city died because of it.

Quite interesting so far and a nice history lesson at the same time. Also, a PSA against nuclear power. Just isn’t worth the trouble especially with the never ending meltdown at Fukushima ongoing. Just takes one incident and apparently this amazingly could have been 1000x times worse but they halted an even worse disaster. The opening was riveting. I could watch that again easy. Loving the cast.

I think it Episode 4 we are moving along with still processing how to put out the radiation leak and some after effects of the original exposure to individuals which is horrible. What a horrible way to die. Also the unbelievable heroism that these poor Russian men had to buy shoveling graphite off the roof 90 seconds at a time. They still haven't got to building the dome yet so hopefully that is finished by the time the series ends.

Rated #1 on IMDB. haha

I mean it's a great show but I'm not even sure if it's Hall of Fame material among the pantheon of HBO series. I'll have to come back and reassess in a year.

Top Tier as of Today:
Wire
Game of Thrones
Deadwood
Sopranos

The show is fucking phenomenal. I went into it expecting it to not live up to the hype, but man was I wrong. I really loved the atmosphere and the dreary, washed out look of almost every scene. Jarred Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson give some truly fantastic performances as well and hopefully they get some much deserved awards attention. Some of the imagery and certain sequences in this show were downright horrific and haunting as hell too. I can already think of three or four scenes in particular they will definitely be sticking with me for a while.

I liked how they did the last episode and brought it back to the time before the blast occurred. That was almost as intense as the first episode but more deflating seeing error after error happen. It was also interesting to see hear the technicals of that plant in terms of power generation and the shutdown. Also seeing the cores bulging out before the explosion was interesting as well.

Through episode 3 now and it's just excellent. HBO let down with with GoT's last season, but they're still showing again they bring some of the highest quality stuff to TV.

It is just a great show, sure it doesn't show the USSR in a good light, but it's such a damnly fascinating story well told and shot with a lovely cast too. Riveting finale too.

Two episodes in.

2nd wasn't nearly as gutting as the first, but just as interesting. It's fantastic.

Just seeing this. What an incredible show. Also a reminder of the epic heroism of the first responders who saved, truly, millions of people.
